I am calm, loyal, and sarcastic.
My Self-Summary
I am B.J., thanks to the fact that my parents gave me first and
middle names that lend themselves to a nice shortening. I prefer
not to be called by my given name. It's not that I don't like it,
but I like B.J. better, and besides, people tend to misspell my
name when they write it. They often misspell my last name, too. :(
What I’m doing with my life
I've suspended the job search for now. If one of the applications I
submitted pans out, terrific. But between my novel and writing a
blog professionally, clearly a 9 to 5 job is not where my path
lies, and it'll just slow me down. Hopefully the blog will soon
start paying enough to let me get my own place.
I'll be working towards my
computer science degree in the
fall, and I'm doing a lot of studying on my own -- I learn faster
when not held back by a class paced for people who don't learn as
quickly as I do. Plus, cheap.
So, at the moment? Cramming for the math placement exam and
plotting to take as many electives as I can to get them out of the
way. Meanwhile, I just donated blood on Monday, and I signed up
with Habitat for Humanity, so I'll be helping to build houses just
to combat my natural laziness.
I’m really good at
fighting,
video
games, learning, and teaching. I'm also good at playing the
piano, singing, reading, writing, computers, and
thinking.
The first things people usually notice about me
My smile, or so they say. Hmm...I don't know that I smile that
often. But for some strange reason people seem to like me. Maybe my
size -- I'm barely tall, but with broad shoulders, thick muscles,
big hands and feet, etc.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Harry Potter and the Rachel Morgan series are my absolute favorite
books. Stephanie Meyer's stuff is fun, too, even though she's not
that good of a writer. Ender's Game (in spite of the homophobic
asshole who wrote it), The House of Night series, the Kitty
Norville series. Books by Rachel Vincent, Richelle Mead, James
Patterson, Charlaine Harris, Patricia Briggs, Karen Chance, Scott
Patterson, and Meg Cabot.
For movies, see my collection of animated Disney classics and Pixar
or Don Bluth productions. You'll also find me watching Singin' in
the Rain, Clueless, Ace Ventura, or High School Musical. Honestly,
though, I prefer TV shows because they last longer.
I'm on a vintage kick, music-wise; been listening to Aerosmith,
Huey Lewis, Michael Jackson (yes, the one who liked little boys;
still good music), The Beach Boys...but Gavin DeGraw, The
Perishers, Edwin McCain, Chopin, and Mozart are good bets,
too.
Love Chinese and Italian food. Wendy's, Outback Steakhouse, and
Subway, frozen pizza, Thanksgiving dinner.
The six things I could never do without
My computer
My bed
My recliner
Books
A car that runs
Love (in either sense)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
what if scenarios. It's where novel ideas come from.
On a typical Friday night I am
doing the same thing I do every night: trying to take over the
world.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I kissed a dude once. Just for a joke, not because I was in any way
attracted to him. Seriously, I wasn't. Why are you all looking at
me that way?
You should message me if
you're hot/intelligent/athletic/fun.
