My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
My name is Joshua, and I'm an easy-going guy; very laid back and quick to laugh, though I sometimes have a sardonic sense of humor. I enjoy partying with friends and spending a quiet night in equally, as long as I'm having fun. I'm not overly boisterous (except when I am), but I am an excellent listener (except when I'm not). My friend's call me the Devil's Advocate because I can and will argue anything at the drop of a hat, and then turn around and argue against it. I love a good debate and it is my sincere belief that every argument has two sides, with neither being absolute in their correctness. The world is a giant ball of grey; people who insist on seeing everything in black and white frustrate me to no end. Being able to see both sides of a situation has helped me become very good at compromising, but I'm not a pushover. I'm always willing to come to a compromise, but only as long as the other person is. I love to learn and I don't plan on ever stopping.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm a private consultant who specializes in IT work (software engineering, database design, etc). I play as hard as I work and I'm always up for anything.

I was married for nine years and disappeared inside the relationship, so now I'm trying to reconnect with the real world. While I am a sentimental fool who believes in love at first sight, I'm looking to take things slow with friendship and letting things progress as they may.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.

...being so arrogant it's annoyingly cute.

...being a smart-ass. and tend to win whatever I play. That's not bragging, just fair warning...and maybe a challenge ;).
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My blue eyes.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I love to read and have more favorite books than I could possibly list. My favorite books are mostly fantasy or sci-fi, with Robin Hobb and Isaac Asimov being two authors I greatly enjoy. I enjoy good anime like "Darker Than Black" and I like lighter fare as well, such as "Spirited Away." Snuggling on the couch, watching a newly discovered anime with the lights turned off is one of life's most underrated pleasures.

There's not a lot on television that I watch regularly, anymore. I tend to wait for a season to end and then binge watch it. The few shows that manage to hold my weekly attention are ones that tend to break away from the norm, such as Heroes: Reborn, Supernatural, and Fear the Walking Dead. The BBCA is my home away from home; I'll watch just about anything with a British accent.

I hate making comprehensive lists of things I like, because I invariably leave a ton of things out. So here's a quick sample of my favorite things:

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, The Iliad, The Farseer Trilogy/Golden Man Trilogy, The Divine Comedy, the Dune series

The Fifth Element, Kung-Pow, Star Trek III, Princess Bride, anything Monty Python

Doctor Who, Arrow, Sherlock, Game of Thrones, Walking Dead

They Might Be Giants, Muse, ABBA, Bloodhound Gang, LMFAO, the Eagles

Crab legs, filet mignon, chicken parmagian (with alfredo sauce instead of marinara), Skyline chilitos with sour cream
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1) My children (I have three, one girl and two boys). 2) My computers (I have three, one girl and two boys). 3) My sense of humour. 4) Spelling words with an extra "u." 5) Games (except the relationship kind, I return those for store credit). 6) Books (I have three, one girl and two boys). I suppose if there was a 7th thing, it would be "recycling jokes."

NOTE: I am not looking for a mother for my children, because they already have one. You will not meet my children, unless we become seriously involved, as they live with their mother.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
The human condition, how to fix the world, what I would do if zombies/dragons/aliens attacked, how everything would be different if I had turned left instead of right, where I left that bottle of olive oil, life, the universe, and everything.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Every Friday is something different. I might be at home playing video games on my xbox, playstation, wii, or playing an MMO on my computer. Sometimes I'm at a friend's house, playing D&D, Masquerade, or some other role-playing game. Other times, I'm out at a club or bar hopping with friends. Lately, though, I've been spending Friday nights watching kid shows with the munchkins.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I sing at the top of my lungs in the car... until someone sees me, then I pretend I was chewing gum or yawning.
