I am sympathetic, sweet, and cautious.

My Self-Summary

Ok, as you can see from my name, I am kinda shy. I've made a lot of progress with it and wish I could change my screen name, so people don't think I'm hiding under my bed or something :) It's really not that bad, in fact people tend to argue with me and tell me I'm not shy. I just get nervous sometimes around new people, especially those of the male persuasion :) Once I get to know you, I am warm, caring, and a very good friend.

I love to travel, learn new languages and cultures, I LOVE Europe.
I am big into my family, close friends, and my dog.
I love the Red Sox, although I'm not obsessed by any means!
I enjoy art (drawing, painting, computer illustration/photoshop) as a hobby, although I neglect it way too much.
I can be very silly when I want to or serious if I must!

What I’m doing with my life

I hate the 9-5 thing, doubt I'll ever like it, but I'm getting used to it again. I have been working for almost 2 years at my current job. I didn't select any of the job categories, because my job is a mix: Education, media, publishing, computers, design, it goes on and on. The great thing about the mix is that I get to wear a lot of different hats throughout the day (or at least the week).

I’m really good at

Hmmm...well, I love to learn new things, watch the discovery channel, the history channel, etc.. I was always good at math and science. A lot of people say I am good at learning new languages, which I am, but it doesn't come that easy, I have to work at it. I'm shy, so speaking is difficult, understanding is much easier. I can speak German fluently when no one is around (yes, I speak to my dog in foreign languages, gotta practice somewhere! no, she hasn't answered me yet, but I see it in her eyes, one day she will!).

The first things people usually notice about me

Depends, am I on paper or in person?

On paper, people usually notice that I've studied a lot of languages...I didn't list them all here, there are several that I know only a few phrases in.

In person, maybe my eyes.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Oh, I used to read so many books, but I've gotten lazy... I do tend to enjoy classics: loved Austen, Bronte, Tolkien
Movies...love Indiana Jones, Lord of the Rings, original Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Harry Potter (books as well). I enjoy quality romantic comedies, but I hate weepy movies - I don't like to cry, so why put myself through that? I also like silly comedies and movies set in other times, a few: Braveheart, Princess Bride, Young Frankenstein, etc.
TV...I love Lost, 30 Rock, House, the Office (British and American), Family Guy, any thing that makes me laugh. I love British comedies (I love most British things). I like Project Runway. I hate the fashion industry, but I like to see what people can do with 24 hours and a pile of garbage bag ties. It's like MacGuyver goes to Milan, or something.
Music...old stuff: Beatles, the Police, U2, Queen (Are we seeing a British theme, as well? Sorry Bono, I don't mean it.) and new stuff: Cold Play, Death Cab, Killers, Keane, etc. I also love dramatic classical, Beethoven is my favorite (but wait, he's not British...)
Food...I like a lots of stuff and am always up for trying new things, although I can only handle so much spiciness.

The six things I could never do without

(not necessarily in this order)
someone or something to make me laugh
my dog
weather that changes (I'm a new england girl!)
my family
I'm sure there are 2 more...but at the moment, my mind is blank!

I spend a lot of time thinking about

I tend to daydream a lot.
The future, the past, the meaning of life, nonsense ...I don't know, my brain is always going on about something. I don't think it's shut up since I was born :) My brain is like a child, it needs to be distracted - this is what TV is for!

On a typical Friday night I am

Watching a movie and/or hanging out with friends or family.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm shy (nothing new, I know) and I'm working on it. I've made a lot of progress in the past year and I wish I'd started working on it sooner. At this point I do wish I could change my screen name :)

You should message me if

We have something in common (mentioning what is helpful :P ) and want to chat.
