My self-summary
I live life with passion: my opinions, desires, fears, and pleasures. To me, it is isn't enough to simply exist; a person must be involved with the world around them. I love to spend time with my friends, and I like making new ones. I love to explore. Discovering new places, whether in another country or another part of town, is a hobby of mine. Sometimes I just need to get out of the house.

Some hobbies of mine include skiing/snowboarding, gardening, and swing dancing. I'm taking classes as well as going to dances several nights a week, so kudos if you’re a dancer! I read a fair bit, and I watch a select few tv shows (more later). I'm also a certified diver, I've done a little bouldering, and I'll even play some golf if forcefully compelled. Basically, you can get me to do most nearly anything, and I'll probably give it a fair chance.

For those who are curious, I am and have consistently been an ENFP since I first took the test a decade ago. For something a bit more relevant to OKC, I feel like the results from the 5 Love Languages test are more useful in determining compatibility. Mine are:

Physical Touch: 12
Quality Time: 8
Words of Affirmation: 7

What I’m doing with my life
My career is in User Experience Design. I have my own place, a small condo with a yard. I just completed my Master's degree in Interactive Design and Game Development (No, I do not make games or work in the game industry...please see above). With school over, I am working on several projects, doing things with friends, and (somehow) trying to make time for dating. I spend several nights a week dancing, which makes my availability limited. Please understand that I don't make plans less than a week in advance. My schedule is just too busy!
I’m really good at
Bargain hunting, Ikea-hacking, and min-maxing in games. I'm not very good at walking, however. I'm very clumsy.

I'm also into crafty stuff. If you like Steampunk, cosplay, or anything like that I'd be interested in seeing what you're working on! You can see a little of what I've done lately in my photos. One of my projects for this summer is going to be painting old furniture. Yay!
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm going to guess they notice I'm not a typical girl. For this profile specifically? I get a lot of comments on my goggles. I don’t actually wear those around most of the time, but it never hurts to ask, right?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I play board and card games such as Settlers of Catan, Carcassonne, and Dominion (waaaaay more than that, just some favorites). I used to play D&D and other tabletop RPGs, but I haven't done that recently. I used to raid in WoW, but now I tend to just play PS3 and PC games. The last games I bought were The Last of Us and Elder Scrolls Online...neither of which I have had time to play. I like strategy games like Civ and Dawn of Discovery. My favorite phone games are made by Nimblebit.

The last three books I read were all Brandon Sanderson novels. I read mostly fantasy, sci fi, and classic fiction novels. I also love Michael Crichton novels. I really ought to read more of them. Ask me about my favorite epic fantasy series sometime :)

I don't own cable, and I would only watch it if someone else turns it on. I have Netflix, which enables me to watch Doctor Who, Sherlock, Firefly, Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, Downton Abbey, and a whole plethora of Regency-era romance series. I am also a rabid fan of Game of Thrones. I read the novels, so I have a tendency to blurt out, “THAT WASN'T IN THE BOOKS!!!” while watching. Sorry. Except not really.

My favorite movies include The Princess Bride, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, The Emperor's New Groove, The Holiday, Kill Bill, and…well, I’m sure I’m forgetting a few million. Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter go without saying. I mean, you really shouldn't need to ask, right? I used to watch a lot of anime, but not so much anymore. I really like anything by Hayao Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli.

Currently, I have Steam Powered Giraffe burned into my soul. If you couldn't tell by my picture, I'm into steampunk :P I listen to a lot of swing-era music because I dance to it, but it’s not my favorite thing to listen to. I like rock, alternative, classic rock, that new indie rock/pop genre that everybody plays now and tries to pass off as alternative, and 80s pop music. Music isn't really a passion of mine. I still listen to the radio, and I've only bought a handful of mp3s. I know that sounds weird, but...well, I'm weird.

I like all sorts of food, especially foreign cuisine. Indian, Thai, Mexican, Moroccan...it's all good! My favorite is sushi <3 However, I will eat practically anything if given the opportunity. I’m easy to please, and I don’t necessarily feel like price dictates quality. I love to cook and bake. I'm the coworker who brings cupcakes for every minor holiday year-round.
The six things I could never do without
Due to the inherent awkwardness of this question, my list is taking the approach of time and/or space travel:
1. A towel
2. A toothbrush
3. Lip gloss
4. Water sanitation device
5. A reliable bag or backpack
6. Clean underwear
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The past, present and future. I'm all over the place. On a more serious note, I'm obsessed with self improvement. I'm always doing things that constantly project me toward a better place.

Experience has taught me this can be stressful for someone who isn't ambitious or forward-thinking, but it's an integral part of who I am. I have a difficult time connecting with people who don't have a passion for something in their lives.
On a typical Friday night I am
Every Friday I'm lindy hopping! I'm not an extraordinarily advanced dancer, but who knows? Maybe in a few years :)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Every time I answer this question, I come to regret it...haha. I'll just say that I am quite amorous, and I have difficulty being content with a guy who can't keep up in the bedroom.
I’m looking for
  • Guys who like girls
  • Ages 26–40
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating
You should message me if
You are a passionate and interesting person. You want a relationship with a witty, creative, capable woman. You read this far before messaging me because you care about more than how I look.

I gravitate towards geeks, hipsters, and generally anyone who does swing/lindy. A geeky hipster who dances would be my dream guy. Physically, beards and glasses tend to draw me in, but both of those are rather superficial features.

Oh, and you live 45 minutes or less away from me. No, I don't want to visit you in Ireland, India, Lithuania, etc. No, I don't want to drive to Oregon, Idaho, or BC every weekend. No, I don't want to move to Alabama, New York, or Florida. Yes, these are all real questions strangers have asked of me on OKC.
