Haruki Murakami, Richard Yates, Kurt Vonnegut. Fairly literary
stuff. I enjoyed Nick Hornby's novels a good deal too, though.
Books are important.
I recently read Freedom by Jonathan Franzen and I can't describe
how amazing it was.
The Shining, Bridesmaids, Chinatown, American indie comedies,
foreign films, documentaries. I like going to see movies by myself
during the day when there's not many people around.
Community, Justified, The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Parks &
Recreation, Spaced, Louie, 30 Rock, Smack The Pony, Firefly, The
Powerpuff Girls. Lots of things. I like to "hatewatch" The X
Factor. The episode "Harley & Ivy" from the 90's Batman: The
Animated Series is a near-perfect treatise on liberal
Nina Simone, Tom Waits, John Coltrane, Yo La Tengo, Abba, David
Bowie, Elliott Smith, The Lonely Island, Goldfrapp, Kanye West,
Pixies. I like all types of music. This is not the same thing as
liking all music.
All food is good unless it has peas, seafood or nuts in it. Even
then it can be good but it's better if I avoid it.
