My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm an introverted but outspoken bibliophile who loves good scientific debate and silly jokes pretty much equally.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm working really hard right now, and enjoying being self-sufficient! I recently paid off my car, and now I'm building up my resume and some savings. I am working with at-risk preschoolers and adults with mental illnesses, and revving up for PhD application season this fall; I'm going for PhD in Child Clinical Psychology, which is a ridiculously competitive field. Fingers crossed!
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Languages! I'm fluent in Russian, which I picked up as an adult. I'm also a pretty awesome dog trainer, and an enthusiastic cook. I'm also great at those stupid memory-based minigames they put in bigger video games. (I had so much gold in Fable!)
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I think people notice my eyes first. They're very expressive.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I actually have a new book on my 'most beloved' list- I read A Tree Grows In Brooklyn a couple of weeks ago, and I fell head over heels in love with it. I was totally enthralled from cover to cover.

Other favorite books include Ender's Game, The Blue Sword, and anything by Billy Collins.

I like classical music, and bands whose lyrics have some complexity and depth- notably The Decemberists and The Mountain Goats. I just discovered Mika, and I'm embarrassed to say that I can't stop listening to him.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Max, my dog
A well-stocked kitchen
My pink ukulele
Skull-shaped earrings
Dark chocolate
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
What's going on in other people's heads. Humans have this amazing theory of mind and capability for deep empathy for each other... but it's still as though we go through every day interacting with a series of black boxes.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
...dancing! I go to an Argentine tango class and practica on Friday nights, then at 10 PM I tear off my heels and run from the dance like Cinderella. I work graveyards on the weekends, at least for now, so that tends to cut my evening short. I'm hoping to lose the night job in the next few months, but not until something better is arranged.

When I do have a whole night off, I'm probably getting a good bite to eat somewhere and either reading a good book or setting up a DIY project of some sort.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I work hard to make up for all of my weaknesses. It pays to be smart, but only so much. I spend a lot of time using brain power to figure out things that everyone else seems to get without even trying.
