I am big like an ocean, important like a mt., and tall like a tree.

My Self-Summary

Once, when asked to describe myself in 10 words or fewer, I wrote, "I am an easily amused human being with skin." I kind of liked leaving so little as my self-summary since you're never going to be able to adequately describe a person in a dialog box anway, but then quickmatch changed to only show this part of the profile, so I added more, infra. It then changed again to show everything but this part, but I decided to leave it anyway.

I'm silly, sarcastic, and overly serious; I'm active, graceful, and clumsy; I'm intelligent and have a passion for the truly stupid; I love to write and hate writing; I'm poetic and prosaic (and Prozacic); I'm determined and distractible; I make my best friends crazy and keep them sane; I really like semicolons.

Note that "mt." in my adjectives is supposed to be "mountain", they didn't allow enough characters.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm an attorney who deals with the part of trial law that you will never see in a movie about a trial because it's just that boring. I'm not saving the world, merely a cog in the machinery of business, but with a little luck, the work will soon provide me the stability to take care of a few of the more important things in life.

I’m really good at

Making people feel at ease... or uncomfortable. I think the abilities go together.

The first things people usually notice about me

Probably that I can be a little obscure. I just looked at a couple of my other answers and realized that people must also notice that I'm long-winded.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Before I get to the answers, I should point out that for all categories I am incapable of giving an answer that I actually feel confident is accurate. I can never think of what my "favorite" is, and I'm always sure I'm forgetting something important, but I can give some top ones that come to mind. (a) To Kill a Mockingbird, the Harry Potter series (cliche, I know, and there was some disappointment with the last one, but a great example of how a series can grow), The Golden Compass (don't see the movie, trust me, it captures virtually nothing of what is great about the book), Watchmen(graphic novel, but really so much more than that term captures), Maus & Maus II (ditto), The Education of T.C. MITS; (b) The Truman Show, Big Fish, Mulan, Star Wars (the original is still my favorite), The Red Violin, Hero (Jet Li, not Dustin Hoffman), Dogma; Batman: Mask of the Phantasm was the best film adaptation of the character until Batman Begins which was the best until The Dark Knight, which WOW! (c) big fan of Seth Kaufman, and if you know who that is I'll be STUNNED, but my favorite album of all time is Metallica's black album; that lets you know that I'm into instrumentals and rock (I know it's metal, but that's one of the few places you can get real rock anymore), and I also listen to jazz, blues, and opera; honestly the only stuff I don't care for is pop (except 80's... sorry, nostalgia) and contemporary country which is really just pop with cowboy hats; (d) spaghetti and meatballs, but I don't eat red meat (or poultry), so I use fake stuff, so it's actually just spaghetti and balls; at any rate, I love many, many foods from almost all cooking traditions, many of which are my own creations, so I can't really do them justice by naming them right here.

The six things I could never do without

I put off this question for a long time (and will probably never edit it), because I take it fairly literally. In a literal sense, it's hard to come up with things that would make me not want to go on with my life. I guess I'm always ready to see if tomorrow will be better, even if I can't see how, so I'll have to start with (1) my courage. Okay, that was ridiculously sappy, I know, but whatever.

Now, on to things that would bring me pretty damn close to not wanting to go on. Let's go with (2) my intellect, because I think I've always counted on that to help ensure a fulfilling future. (3) Human contact, in some form. Since there's so much in life that can drag a person to despair if you let it, I'll need (4) my sense of humor. I don't have immense amounts of (5) patience, but I really think I couldn't get by with any less. And, of course, (6) pickles.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

The play that's kicking around in my head asking to be written. Dorky, I know.

On a typical Friday night I am

...likely to have work the next morning. Of course, that usually doesn't stop me from going out.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I have more than once cut myself (accidentally, mind you) in a particular place... let's just say where even most of my friends wouldn't see the band-aid.

You should message me if

You recognize the source of my adjectives (or if you're curious to know why it sounds familiar).
