I am Nerdy, Random, and Esoteric.

My Self-Summary

Hi, I'm Nate.

I'm (sort of) new to the Lafayette/Boulder area, and I'm looking to meet some new people.

I'm your typical shy nerd, until I've known you for about 5 minutes. Then I turn into a talkative, gregarious guy. Once I've opened up, nothing is taboo, and I'll answer all your personal questions. Seriously, if you wanna know how I lost my virginity, or what my GPA in high school was, I'll tell ya. My favorite drinking game is "I Never" because I love learning new things about people.

What I’m doing with my life

Right now, I'm a phlebotomist. I work at a plasma center, and get paid to put needles in people :D. I'm looking at going to school to be an EMT, and eventually become a paramedic. Working retail was never right for me, and I'm glad I'm doing something to help save lives. Too bad I'm becoming more cynical by the day.

I’m really good at

Making spaghetti sauce. I've spent the last 7 or so years trying to perfect my recipe, and I think I've finally gotten it down. I'm good at appreciating art without being able to explain it, I know just enough to know it's good, but not enough to know why. I'm pretty decent with devil sticks, but wanna get better. For some reason, I understand technology on an intuitive level, and can fix just about anything.

The first things people usually notice about me

My hat. I have a very stylish fedora that I've just started always wearing.

My sense of humor. I can find humor in the oddest of places, from the expression on someone's face when I tell an inappropriate joke, to a narcoleptic puppy falling asleep while running, to Colin Farrel karate chopping a midget.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Anything by Tom Robbins, Anne Bishop, Simon R. Greene, Chuck Palahniuk. World War Z, Dark Tower Series, Zombie Survival Guide, Star Wars, a bunch of other fantasy and Sci-Fi

Movies: Fight Club, Memento, Speed Racer, Borat, Anchorman, Dodgeball, Goonies, Neverending Story, Indiana Jones *trilogy*, Children of Men, Serenity, Casino Royale, Coraline, Star Wars, Zombieland. Don't really like horror movies or chick flicks though.

TV: Lost, Heroes, Clone High, Invader Zim, Futurama, The Office, Firefly, Arrested Development. Really anything that's well written and engaging.

Music: Too much to list, I'm currently listening to a lot of Royksopp, Frou Frou, Tenacious D, Halou, Collide, Bloodhound Gang, RJD2, The Blow, Mirah, Amanda Palmer, Mandalay, Muse, Mindless Self Indulgence, Static X, Metric, KMFDM, Bat for Lashes. I've got a pretty wide taste in music, but lately, I've been listening to a lot of Indie/Electronica. Pandora is my best friend, and I *love* finding new music, any suggestions?

Food: Mexican and Italian, I make some of the best homemade spaghetti sauce I've ever tasted. I also love sushi, but it's hard to find a good sushi place so far from the coast.

The six things I could never do without

My Friends
My Sense of Humor
Music
The Internet
My Car (I'm not obsessed with it, I just drive a lot)
A good book.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Life, the universe, and everything. What I want to get for my next tattoo. Becoming a homeowner in October.

On a typical Friday night I am

Staying up late and doing stupid things. I usually have four day weekends, so friday's the day I slack off. If I'm not hanging out with friends, I'll be reading, playing video games, or any number of equally nerdy things.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I was once addicted to the Sims. I've done horrible things to sims, including killing every single person in town, and stacking their graves on the roof. I made a family of people with horrible genetic mutations, and then interbred them with the local populace to see how the mutations would spread. I had a couple near the end of their lives make robot copies of themselves to carry on their legacy in a twisted parody of human existence. Some people play The Sims like a fishtank, some play it like a dollhouse, I play it like a mad science experiment.

You should message me if

You're in the Boulder/Denver area and you want to hang out.

You can carry on an intelligent conversation.

You can appreciate a random sense of humor.

You can talk for 30 minutes about the most random things. (Wrestling bears, anyone?)
