I am varied, chatty, and third thing..

My Self-Summary

"Self-Summary" is an entirely bizarre thing to do, but here goes: I'm a 23-year-old who's caught (As most 23-year-olds probably are) between the crushing responsibility of adult-hood and the nagging pest of youth which tells you that everything you do that's "adult" is boring, lame, and, essentially, a trap. So I divide my time between creative projects and responsibility; between laziness and ultra-productivity; between healthy living and getting wasted at a piano bar with friends.

I guess I'm an "alternative type," as I don't tend to enjoy the cultural zeitgeists as they come and go. (I didn't read the Da Vinci Code or the Twilight series, I didn't enjoy Lost and I've never lasted through an entire reality television show episode, I don't like rap or Coldplay, and sports are as boring to me as a staring at an Excel spreadsheet.) I AM, however, a jack-of-all-trades in that I like the better examples of just about everything. Movies, TV, comic books, theater, hiking, adventuring, food, adult beverages, literature, video games, etc.

Let's see... Also... I live with my parents, drive a shitty car, raise a 4-year-old boy who is awesome, frequent a local coffee shop, climb trees very well, and am a lot more fun and interesting to talk to or be around than my voice on this summary is coming through... yeesh...

What I’m doing with my life

I have a consistent interest in writing. Fiction and mostly comic books or comedy sketch writing. I host a talk/variety show podcast and I write/perform for a sketch comedy podcast. Also I am very involved in the local music/arts scene and perform in a sketch comedy group.

So I like to do that stuff, which is stuff I'm doing, but I guess more importantly, I'm a devoted parent. Other things I'm doing with my life? Working at a dead-end retail job temporarily (long story.)

I’m really good at

Talking, mostly. I do that like a champ.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Anything by: Kurt Vonnegut, Alan Moore, HG Wells, Grant Morrison, Mark Millar, Craig Thompson, Warren Ellis, John Hodgman. Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, Plato's dialogues of Socrates, Catcher in the Rye, Maus, Jimmy Corrigan, Box Office Poison, Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs.

Movies: Wet Hot American Summer, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolfe?, The Third Man, Rocket Science, True Romance.

Music: They Might Be Giants, Bad Religion, The Microphones, Animal Collective, The Clash, Rilo Kiley, Glen Hansard, Neutral Milk Hotel, Aesop Rock, Architecture in Helsinki, Benny Goodman, Why?, The Books, Fats Domino, Modest Mouse, Belle & Sebastian, Mountain Goats, James Kochalka Superstar, The Decemberists, Damien Rice, Billy Joel, Sam Cooke, Garfunkel and Oates, Dillinger Four.

Radio: Best Show on WFMU, The Sound of Young America, Around Comics, Seven Second Delay, WireTap, Radiolab, You Look Nice Today

Food: I kinda like ALL food. Except beans, tofu, and the occasional odd vegetable.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Everything. Really. Once I logically mapped out the logistics of the Muppet Universe from Muppet Babies on up into a solid continuity and scientific set of biological rules.

Other times I think about Man's existence as defined by His triumphs or His trials, how cool Clint Eastwood is, how "grew up catholic" is slang for "athiest," why the FUCK "chocolate covered bacon" exists, and solipsism.

On a typical Friday night I am

Switches every other weekend between the following: Either chilling at home with my little boy watching Avatar: The Last Airbender, or chilling at a local bar, drinking and conversating with a group of pals. I try to curb that second option as often as possible with things like local Music shows, local theater shows, random adventures, etc...

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Eh. I don't have many secrets so nothing springs to mind. I'll share mostly anything if I'm asked, or it pops into my head...

You should message me if

You want to? I dunno. What's the harm? The worst outcome: I don't respond. Or I do and you think "I've made a mistake!" so YOU don't respond a second time. Are those really so terrible?
