I am boring, smelly, and dull.
My Self-Summary
I'm an unusual mix of creative, analytical, spontaneous,
thoughtful, serious, silly, and countless other adjectives.
I work in a technical field and I really enjoy the challenge of
difficult problem solving and design. I come from a line of
engineers on my father's side, and a line of creative types on my
mother's side, so there is definitely a fusion of these aspects in
my interests. Distilled down, I can design and build something that
is really well crafted and aesthetically pleasing at the same time.
I've been on a bit of a DIY streak the last few months, so I take
on all kinds of projects around the house doing repairs,
renovations, figuring out how to make my lawn and garden grow
nicely. My first and foremost passion is all things digital, since
I spent a lot of time in my formative years on the interwebs, even
back before it was the cool thing to do.
I definitely have a nerdy and geeky side, and regularly use my
crazy programming skillz like McGuiver or the Scooby gang to save
the day. Just like Jesse Ventura didn't have time to bleed in the
first (and best) Predator, I ain't got time to watch MTV, channel:
deleted!
Somehow even without being told, I'm still totally awesome and
cooler than cool... I clean up nicely and cary a conversation in
any crowd. I follow cultural trends, just not the sort that would
show up on the tabloid tv shows, and I'm largely ignorant of
contemporary pop music, except when the "artists" do something
foolish like flashing their shame getting out of the limo, and end
up in the news.
One note: I've read that many men exaggerate their height in
personal profiles, so I will state that I am indeed 6'1, and when I
get around to it I'm going to take a photo standing next to a tape
measure! If someone can't be honest about something so basic as
that, then I think they really aren't worth anyone's time.
What I’m doing with my life
Always learning and always questioning.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Reading: Hyperion Cantos, The Culture novels, some Heinlein,
biographies of intersting people, and the countless hours I spend
wandering wikipedia.
Music: Amon Tobin, most trip-hop/down-tempo genre stuff, classic
and modern orchestral, classic rock, Cash, CCR, random stuff.
Movies: typically anything by: Spike Jonez, Coen Bros, Eastwood,
Kubrick, Ridly Scott, Terry Gilliam, and James Cameron.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
That I think this question is uber kitschy and dumb.
You should message me if
You are the Diane to my Renton from that scene in Trainspotting
where they first meet. Minus the whole heroin and school girl parts
of course.
