My self-summary
Okay, where to begin? I suppose I should say that I am quiet, athletic, thoughtful, and more than a bit of a nerd. I'm really good with movie quotes and I have a sense of humor that could dehydrate Lake Michigan on some days and refill it with tears of laughter on others. I enjoy discussing and debating and yet also love enjoying the quiet and calm moments. And there are a whole bunch of other things that are so much more fun to show to people than to explain to them.
What I’m doing with my life
I graduated from Indiana University in 2010 and now I have a job at a technology company working as a Business Analyst. I don't know exactly where I am going with my life but half the fun of the journey is the mystery. Hopefully somewhere in between all of this I find enough things and people to live, laugh, learn, and love with.
I’m really good at
being a sounding board for other people's ideas and positions. I listen carefully and thoughtfully and always make sure to think things through before I give a response. Instead of derailing someone's train of thought I help nudge it and maintain it. Which also makes it great for punctuating a moment of seriousness with random humor. When in doubt try to laugh, it is much more cathartic than crying.
The first things people usually notice about me
I am fairly tall, have a slender/average build, and tend to have a very quite and relaxed nature. Other than that I am not really sure what else. I would appreciate it if you let me know when you do.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love Thai, Mexican, Italian, and good old American the most. I always willing to try different styles of cooking too.

I am a big fan of all kinds of music. Rock, Metal, Acoustic, Alternative, Jazz, and Classical to give a good sense of the variety I enjoy. Although modern Celtic rock holds a special place in my heart (yes, that is actually a thing).

I have not had time to watch that much TV but I love the West Wing, House of Cards, and Dr. Who.. In the past I LOVED Scrubs, Dr. Cox is my hero. I also enjoy adultswim shows like The Venture Bros and other comedies like Archer and Futurama. I'm also a fan of some anime like Cowboy Bebop and Fullmetal Alchemist.

There are far too many to list here. And of course the type of movie that I enjoy watching will be suitable to the kind of day it is. I think my favorite genre is psychological thrillers or mysteries. The genre that I dislike the most is gore-fest horror movies. I could go on and on talking about movies with someone where we exchange opinions and dissect plot elements.

Off the top of my head some of my favorite movies are Serenity, Lord of the Rings, Inception, The Usual Suspects, The Princess Bride (Inigo Montoya is everything I want to be in life) and The Great Escape

I am a HUGE bookworm. It would be quicker to list my favorite authors than to name the books: Jim Butcher, Patrick Rothfuss, Brandon Sanderson, and George R. R. Martin. Recently I have developed an interest in older novels and have started to read books by Issac Asimov and Richard Feyman. I am a big fan of science fiction and high fantasy novels. This is another topic that I would enjoy discussing for hours with fellow fan. My current reading project is The Demon-Haunted World by Carl Sagan, it is definitely something. I wish I had discovered it when I was younger.
The six things I could never do without
- A friend I can trust
- Family that looks out for you
- A book series to dive into and devour
- The best Chicago food (Lou Malnati's, Chicago style hotdogs, Al's Italian Beef, Kuma's Corner)
- Having the opportunities to learn something new constantly
- Proudly being a nerd with my friends. Strategy games, card games, psychological games abound. Basically if the game involves out thinking or screwing over your friends in amusing ways it is likely we play it.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The perils of making a first impression, I'm still figuring out how to pull that off. How best to add to my to read list. Also idle daydreaming.
On a typical Friday night I am
Hanging out with my friends. Which usually involves having bonfires, playing any given type of game with good food and beers, hiking, camping, or spending the night out and about
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Admitting something that I would go as far as to consider 'private' I feel I should reserve for the people interested in sharing a drink or two with me
You should message me if
Any of this piqued your interest and you would like to learn more. I know a little about a lot and a lot about a little, and what I would like to know most is if you have liked what you read and have not messaged me, why? It kinda seems to make things needlessly complicated doesn't it? ;)
