Recently attended a seminar with a friend presented by Dr. Emerson
Eggerichs (based on his book "Love & Respect"), & was
enlightened to the following key points:
- core need for women = unconditional love (the greeting card industry is modeled on this principle)
- core need for men = unconditional respect (the military hierarchy - duty/honor/sacrifice)
- "mutual understanding is the key to communication which then leads to communion" which means that while one person may speak flawless english, and another speaks flawless french, but, without the basis of mutual understanding, communication between the two is wasted effort.
