I am verbose, laid back, and Funny.

My Self-Summary

I've got a strong vocabulary, that's one compliment I can actually believe. I get bothered by people who abbreviate words that are shorter than let's say 5 letters.

If I message you don't over analyze it, I'm constantly caught between over thinking what I say and wishing I'd thought about it more, and I'd hate to impose such a state on you.

I've got trouble with people who don't hate themselves even a little. And I've got trouble with people who like me too much. It makes me think they see something about me that I don't see, and it bothers me to feel left out.

I'm at an age where I want life to mean something. And I'm reading a lot of good books in an attempt to shape my own voice by grinding it against the voices of other, greater men.

I like poetic tragedy, and grand drama. I'm too big of a sucker for those sappy moments where the hero is reunited with his dog, or his girl, or her man, in no particular order.

I don't watch trash television, but I find my self almost uncharacteristically compelled to gossip. I absolutely adore embellished accents of any intelligible sort. Over exaggerated hand gestures give me butterflies in the stomach.

I'm not what you might call extremely political, but I don't believe youth is an excuse for political apathy. I like to be aware of causes. And causes that interest me include feminism, environmentalism, and vegetarianism.

I don't consider myself religious, but I take an ignostic stance on that question "Does God Exist?"

I've got a self-deprecating witty style of humor, peppered with pop culture references. I'm a bit of a dork, but really sincere usually. That's not to say that I quote family guy or funny movies all day. No, I have my own sense of humor, not Will Ferrell's or Seth McFarlane's. If you grew up under a rock, chances are you'll find that moss grows on you easier than I do.

I worry that I'm reading this profile in my own voice, and all of you strange, beautiful people don't know that voice. It makes me a little anxious.

Tl;Dr I'm passable! Alright, a bit sweet. IM me if you like my hair or something.

Anyways, Bother me some time!

What I’m doing with my life

Academia, etc.

I’m really good at

I'm discovering cooking, and I like it. I'm really good at public speaking, well relatively good.

I'm sure by now you've noticed that I'm running out of quirky. The normal is starting to seep through, I'm embarassed. It's making a mess of my web profile.

The first things people usually notice about me

Some people say my eyes. But that's a bit generic.
I've got a trendy haircut! No, that's no good either.
You tell me? Oh no, eww god no. How boring.

People reading the profile, or people in real life?
For the former, I'd assume my picture.
For the latter, I'd assume a rather tall "Strong-Looking" (as one girl described it) Figure approaching from whatever distance people start noticing from.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: I Prefer Fiction to Nonfiction. I'm a very big fan of Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Salman Rushdie, Sebastian Barry, Paul Auster, Marjane Satrapi, Alan Moore, Adrian Tomine, John Irving, and Thomas Hardy.

Poetry: Emily Dickinson, Langston Hughes, Sylvia Plath, Wislawa Szymborska, Claude Mc Kay, T.S. Eliot, Suheir Hammad and some of Alan Ginsberg.

If you've had a strong reaction to a book or an author, please tell me about it. Message me something to put on my book list!

I'm a huge fan of movies. I tend to prefer Indie movies and award nominees to Blockbusters, but that doesn't stop me from seeing the Blockbusters anyways. I like comedies and dramas, mainly. List coming soon!

As a rule, I tend to prefer lyrically driven music to instrumentally driven music. There are exceptions, but when I seek to discover new music I find myself looking at Indie Pop, and Lo-Fi music. I do have some taste for more mainstream bands, especially those high school throwbacks I know all the words to.
For those people who like lists: The Mountain Goats, Bright Eyes, Neutral Milk Hotel, Iron & Wine, Feist, Mirah, Sigur Ros, The Shins, Motion City Soundtrack, MGMT, Ben Kweller, Ben Folds, Death Cab for Cutie, Postal Service, Alkaline Trio, Sloan, The New Pornographers, Flogging Molly
If you've got a band you're crazy about, or if you share my passion for singing poorly in the car, message me and tell me about it!

I like Anime but I'm always afraid my taste isn't refined enough. If you know a real good one I don't list, Please message me so I can enjoy it!
Anime: Yu Yu Hakusho, Naruto, One Piece, Death Note, Monster, Cowboy Bebop, Lovely Complex, Love Hina.

The six things I could never do without

Blank White Boxes at which I can throw my text.
Self Doubt.
My trust in mankind.
Idealism. (Two Different Things...)
Believing that this site might work out for me. It's a bit meta, but the me that writes this wouldn't exist without that hope. :)

On a typical Friday night I am

Yeah, that's true.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I kinda just want someone to miss me when I'm gone. That's it really.

You should message me if

I messaged you first, it's only polite, and seriously I'm not THAT unattractive. You're on an internet dating site, seriously... GOSH.

Or if you want to message me first. I'll be... surprised!

No seriously, go ahead.

Do it.

I dare you. :)
