My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
An excitable dude with a weird transatlantic accent and an ever-increasing collection of ridiculous headwear.

I'm slightly camp and totally clumsy. I can usually be found in a pub or a coffee shop, feeling guilty that I'm not in a library. I like second hand books, single malt whiskey and 80s teen movies.

Oh, and I'd like to think I'm pretty friendly, despite the pretentious profile picture. Say hi!
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm trying to finish a PhD (in English), making coffee to pay the bills. I live in a chaotic house, where we often make large and elaborate veggie meals or have bands playing music.

Well, that's the cooler version, anyway. Telling the full truth would involve a lot more discussion of sleeping, playing with my cat and aimless browsing of the internet.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Probably my resemblance to Che Guevara, Jack Sparrow or Jesus.

That or the fact that I wear a namebadge with 'Kailin' printed on it (it's a long story).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Philip Roth is pretty much the reason why I got into this whole PhD mess, but I read far too much in general. I particularly like modern American stuff, but will give most things a shot. At the moment I really dig Jim Crace, George Saunders and Graham Greene.

I mainly listen to punk music made by gruff-voiced bearded guys with beer bellies, but have a guilty love of 90s Britpop. Am currently stoked on Courtney Barnett, Pinback and the Front Bottoms.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
"How much coffee is 'too much' coffee?"
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Watching a band or reading in bed. Ideally the former followed by the latter.
