I am enthusiastic, creative, and erudite.

My Self-Summary

I'm Greek, though you wouldn't know it from the accent. Ten years in the London drizzle will do that to a person. Still, the intense, over-dramatic hand gestures remain. I'm a confident person, but not so self-important that I can't poke fun at myself. I'm generally quite active and enthusiastic, though I like to kick back and relax when I get the chance. Not a gym freak, nor a sofa-bound slob

What I’m doing with my life

I teach at a university, but not in a tweed-jacket-with-elbow-patches kind of way. At the very least, I have somewhat better dress sense. I also work part-time as a musician, alternating between session work (more pay) and my own band (more fun).

I’m really good at

Conversation, whether about music, politics, film, science or crappy sitcoms. I can argue my way out of a straitjacket and often, it must said, right back into one.

I also brew a mean cup of coffee and make Greek-style chips in extra-virgin olive oil. They're what decadence tastes like.

The first things people usually notice about me

My original brand of slightly manic, upbeat intensity.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Anything by Thomas Pynchon, Don DeLillo, David Foster Wallace, Dave Eggers, Jonathan Safran Foer, Philip Roth.

Movies: Paranoid 70's American films (The Conversation, Chinatown, Apocalypse Now, The Parallax View), most films by the Coens, David Lynch, Woody Allen, Stanley Kubrick.

Music: Soul, funk, hip hop, jazz, R&B, reggae, funky house, that-nu-jazz-broken-beat-kind-of-West-London-thing-you-know-the-one-I-mean.

Food: Indian, Thai, Italian

The six things I could never do without

Dark rum, soulful music, cool bars, funky shirts, laid-back holidays and a notepad.

You should message me if

you are intelligent, passionate and independent-minded. No doormats, please! Really quiet people freak me out a bit - I much prefer someone with strong opinions and no qualms about voicing them.
