My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
To get started, I'll offer a bit of a laundry list...
* young-at-heart, but an old soul
* hopeless romantic
* passionate, enthusiastic, and expressive
* proud and loving father
* great listener
* foodie
* intellectually curious
* bi-coastal (CA for decades, MA grew up in)
* grateful, appreciative, and giving
* entertaining
* Matisse fan
* movie lover
* global traveler and linguist
* sports fan
* animal lover
* oenophile
* crimson and cardinal
* long-winded... ;) i'll shut up now

Actually, if you care to read beyond "the list" (feel free to scroll past), I can offer a paragraph or two of prose. Smiling and laughter is a big hunk of what you get with me; if I’m not keeping you amused, I’m not doing my job. Those close to me always tell me I have a gift for it. I’ll also add that I’m a “people person,” although the mere words make me wince a bit because that is one of the most over-used terms in the history of humankind. ;-) Let’s just say the times I tend to treasure the most include some number of my friends, family, etc…. I can also say that I’m a pretty clear ENFP, for those of you who follow the Myers-Briggs world out there. While I certainly survive just fine on my own, I thrive among others, particularly in small (intimate) groups.

At the risk of sounding painfully generic one more time, I’ll also tell you that I like to live my life PASSIONATELY. What are my passions? Great food and wine – I’ve explored my interests here all over this country, and taken it to distant lands to boot. Amazing international wanders that crossed through multiple countries—Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Guatemala and Borneo were fun, but Italy and France remain long-time favorites; Spain isn’t chopped liver either. ;-) In parallel, I like to be able to speak in [some of] those nation’s languages—thus my pursuit of French, Italian, and Spanish. I’ve also studied a few other languages at times, like Russian, Hebrew, and Greek—but that’s more in my past now.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
co-parenting my wonderful daughter
navigating the path of how an MBA can best contribute soulfully to the world
exercising (and treasuring) my Golden Retriever
giving back to the community, in a variety of ways
taking time to smell the roses
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
languages... love them
making people smile and laugh
being silly
treasuring cuisine (and wine) from all over the world
compassion and passion
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
my sense of humor and my smile
how much I revel in making people giggle
how articulate I can be when I want to be
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I'm a MOVIE NUT. Love going out for the theater experience (The Dark Knight just doesn't belong on a small screen); also love indulging in the relaxation of home DVDs, preferably in the company of someone i care about.
A few of my favorite flicks:
* Casablanca
* American Graffiti (back when George Lucas could write well)
* The Shawshank Redemption
* When Harry Met Sally
* The Princess Bride
* Airplane
* Silence of the Lambs
* This is Spinal Tap

Music-wise, I consider myself to have fairly eclectic taste... my favorite perhaps is Alternative/Indie/ModernRock (Pearl Jam, Snow Patrol, Coldplay); sometimes I'm in the mood for grungier, heavy guitar (Jane's Addiction, Soundgarden, Nirvana); also love great female vocalists (Sheryl Crow, Sarah McLachlan, Natalie Merchant); broadening the global reach (Gipsy Kings, Youssou N'Dour, Francis Cabrel); moved by classical (Handel's Messiah, Beethoven's 9th, Mozart's Nachtmusik, Lizst Liebestraum); then I can swing all the way around and return to today's pop (Beyonce, even John Mayer--a guilty pleasure). Nope, you just can't pinpoint me. Not easily, anyway.

Food, food, food. One of the greatest joys in life, from the simplicity of a great burger (Wood Tavern!), to the luxuries like foie gras, white truffles, prosciutto and well-prepared sweetbreads, back to the basics like homemade chocolate cake with a vanilla buttercream frosting, the richness of a fondue savoyarde, the joy of hamachi melting in your mouth... I've eaten all over this amazing planet, and I challenge you to find a nationality whose cuisine I DON'T like. I guess I'll end this list like I enjoy ending certain meals: with a cheese plate--gems like extra aged Gouda, Rocamadour chevre, cave-aged gruyere, Saint Agur blue, and how about some Torta del Casar from Spain, scooped out as a gooey spoonful... mmmmm, I'm getting hungry suddenly.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
* laughter and my gift for causing it
* affection; the splendor of human touch
* my daughter
* great coffee
* my Golden Retriever and other dogs and puppies
* authenticity and honesty
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
how i should probably spend less time thinking, because i'm a GIFTED procrastinator... ;-)
how incredibly fortunate we as people are... and not due to riches
how much i cherish relationships, in many different forms
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
going out with friends
seeing a movie
sometimes putting my daughter to bed
but also
very tempted by the hedonism of cozying up inside (with the right company / activity, that is...)

btw, don't like the concept of a "typical" Friday night... variety is the spice of life -- one of my bedrock idioms
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm very generous in what I'm willing to share... once I know you.
