Hi! I'm an international transplant to DC. I grew up in the Middle East, Europe and North America - with some zig-zagging between them - but am regularly accused of being Irish (not true). I am looking for a smart, good guy with a witty sense of humor and interesting perspectives.

I work in international development. I work hard, travel quite a bit for work to developing countries, and love my job.
Oh, you mean my actual life? I have an adorable Golden Retriever and volunteer for animal rescue organizations. I just bought a condo and am busy making it home. I'm into photography and travel, I love my friends and nurture my friendships. I'm a good hugger.

... joking around, being playful and silly. I like witty and topical banter - 'verbal ping pong' - and throwing jokes and friendly teases around... fast. :)

My hair - it's blonde and wavy. People also tell me often that I smile with my eyes. A few years ago, I finagled my way to a White House holiday party, and the then-President told me I had pretty blue eyes. So there you go. White House endorsement!

Close friends have recently told me things such as: "You look like an angel dressed up as an English Lit grad student", "I love how mental you are" (that means crazy in Canadian), and "You are the most lucid, matter-of-fact, concrete person that I know on the face of the earth." If that doesn't make you run for the hills, give me a shout. :)

I like reading Vanity Fair from cover to cover - especially during travel. Most recently I downloaded James Wolcott's book "Lucking Out" about his NYC life in the 70s. For movies, I am struck by "The Lives of Others" and "Everything is Illuminated," and enjoy comedies like "In the Loop," "The Big Lebowski," "Office Space," "Airplane!," and "Best in Show." I like dramedies such as "Fargo" and "Juno" -- and am always up for a good action mind-warp flick like the Bourne series, the Matrix (1st one esp.) and "The Departed." I can head to E Street Cinema and usually find something cool to see. I'm also into the independent and international film festivals in DC.

On TV, I love irreverent, witty shows like Jon Stewart, Arrested Development, 30 Rock, SNL, and The Office, crime investigation shows such as Bones (even if they're cookie cutter), oldie alternative family-oriented sitcoms like Cheers and the Cosby Show and scifi shows that bring out my inner geek, like Battlestar Galactica (RIP). I also like watching TED talks. I'm a Trekkie girl and a big fan of Star Trek The Next Generation.

Favorite comedians are: Jon Stewart, Alec Baldwin, Bill Hader, Tina Fey, Seth Myers, Kathy Griffin, Anjelah Johnson, the Axis of Evil...
Musically, I like Coldplay, Wilco, Feist, Adele, Amy Winehouse, Depeche Mode (80s!), Arcade Fire and many others. I listen to classical, R&B and Jazz to relax, especially on weekend mornings, and to the dance and pop music that's currently in the Top 40s to work out.

My friends / family / dog, the Internet, travel, dark chocolate, my paycheck, sarcasm and witty jokes, hugs, and international news. That's eight things but I'm owning it. ;)
