I am a humanist, a free spirit, and naively optimistic.

My Self-Summary

Hi, I'm Jim. I live in Augusta but I'm originally from Melbourne FLA. I make my living in the investment properties field but I won't bore you with all that stuff. What I'd really like to do is make a living off of my writing or my music. I write (poetry and songs mostly) and I sing/play in a band sometimes. I'd like to meet a woman that's into some of the same things I'm into. If you're a poet or you write songs or play music, drop me a line. And if you're not, drop me a line anyway because it's always cool to meet new people. Who knows? We might hit it off.

What I’m doing with my life

Making enough money off my investments to survive comfortably without having to work 60 hour weeks anymore. Getting back into my writing and my music now that I have time to do these things again. Possibly going back to school again in the near future(?).

I’m really good at

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I read a lot -- and I mean A LOT -- of books, so I can't really narrow it down. Although Aldous Huxley and William Blake are definitely high up on the list.

For movies I like the Hollywood era of the 30s and 40s, the Film Noir of the late 40s and 50s, spaghetti westerns and low budget horror flicks from the 60s and 70s, and a variety of action/suspense movies and comedies from the 70s to the present. As with books, I like a lot of different genres.

My favorite song is Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden. I think Chris Cornell has more talent in his pinkie finger than Kurt Cobain and Eddie Vedder have in all their fingers combined, including thumbs. My musical influences start with Beethoven and go to the modern garage rock revival of the present day, and if I tried to list everything I'd be sitting here for hours. Black Hole Sun pretty much sums it all up.

For food, Italian cuisine, meat and pasta mainly. You know ... the stuff that sits there like a lead weight in your stomach after you finish it, but you still go back for seconds.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

This lyric : "times are gone for honest men, sometimes far too long for snakes ..."

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

When I was a little kid I was afraid of clowns. I mostly outgrew it but I have to admit they still freak me out a little. Clowns are just ... scary.

Especially Ronald McDonald. Now that's one scary-ass clown.
