I am quick-witted, warm-hearted, and can make you laugh.

My Self-Summary

First, let’s get out of the way the obligatory blindingly obvious statements that don’t actually share any new information whatsoever:

- I like laughing and having fun!
- Sometimes I like to go out, but sometimes I like to stay in!
- I like spending time with my friends!
- There exists music that I enjoy!
- I am versatile, multi-faceted and multi-layered!

*cough*

Hi, my name is Seth and I'm 28 years old. I recently moved to Lowell to be closer to work and am enjoying it so far. Meeting some new people in this area would make it all the better. I currently live with one of my best friends in a great apartment that would seem much more like a bachelor pad if it weren't for the two adorable cats running around. (FYI, the roommate is also a handsome, eligible bachelor of 28)

*Update*
We just found a stray, sociable kitten wandering the side of the road. After failing to find any indication of his original home, he's been officially welcomed into ours, bringing the total of friendly felines to three.

I've been involved in community theater for more than half my life and am looking forward to getting back on stage this season. I write music and fiction, though I haven't indulged in the latter in entirely too long. Both compositional styles are decidedly geeky, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I've been a Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics fan from birth, and recently got to give Wally a great big hug. Awesome.

What I’m doing with my life

I went to school for audio engineering and spent a semester interning at a recording studio in Manhattan. It was an amazing experience, helping to build the place up, run it and also involving myself with a number of the projects. I got to bump into a handful of celebrities, and proved to myself I was capable of it. However, it just wasn't something I wanted enough to be willing to sacrifice everything else. Presently, I work for a major home theater company. I spend my days talking to customers, explaining how their gear works and trying to keep them from feeling stupid for not knowing.

I'm actively considering going back to school for something along the lines of broadcasting or voice acting. I like to think of myself as a sharp-witted person, and I'm literally told on a daily basis that I should consider it as a career choice given my natural speaking voice. Anyone need a voice-actor?

*Update*
I'm back from my third trip to Cedar Point, and it was every bit as amazing as I expected. I'm already trying to figure out when I can next go. Anyone want to head to Ohio? C'mon, everyone loves a road trip!

... and being a ninja.

I’m really good at

These lists are temporarily under construction. Hard hats, please...

Whistling, quoting movies and TV shows at anecdotally appropriate moments, ping pong, board games, making crepes, giving back rubs, giving power bombs (please specify which you would prefer), smiling on bad days, my job, public speaking, kissing, listening, yo-yos, keeping people warm, Rock Band / Guitar Hero, accents and impressions, being big spoon, resisting the effects of alcohol, resisting the urge to test the effects of alcohol, recognizing things by sense of hearing.

I’m not particularly good at but still enjoy:
Crossword puzzles, basketball, Trivial Pursuit, tennis, bowling (legitimate and candlepin), mini-golf, baseball, using chopsticks correctly, trying to understand my cat, trying to understand the opposite sex (sometimes I think these two things are closer than I'd realized), recognizing things by sense of smell.

I’m particularly NOT good at:
Knowing what I’m doing in the kitchen (unless I’m following a recipe I’m likely of ruining something or injuring myself), remembering names, grudges or understanding people who hold them, picking up the subtleties in different wines, keeping a straight face in serious moments when something hilarious occurs to me, keeping my mouth shut when someone in my proximity openly professes their love for George W or any of his cronies, recognizing things by sense of taste.

The first things people usually notice about me

I really don't know, so I'm going to go with what I hope goes through the heads of strangers upon my presence.
"Holy crap! Here comes a ninja! And a brilliant, devastatingly handsome one at that!"

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Hard hats again, these lists are also temporarily lacking...

Books:
- I'm a big fan of the major fantasy staples, a.k.a., Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, and obviously love Hitchhiker's Guide. I've recently been enjoying the work of Dean Koontz and Harlan Coben, and just finished the Dresden Files series, which was phenomenal. I'm going to have to seek out more by Jim Butcher. Other than that most of my reading consists of random books on CD that look entertaining enough to keep my interest to and from work when I need a break from the radio.

Movies:
- I love watching movies, either at the theater or the home theater. I appreciate the grandiose nature of a major Hollywood production in its full cinematic environment, but typically prefer watching in the comfort of my own home, assuming I have good company. Some of my absolute favorites include: The Usual Suspects (I own a copy of the screenplay), The Dark Crystal, American Beauty, Gladiator, Aladdin, Millennium Actress, Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal, Monty Python, Lord of the Rings, Pulp Fiction, American History X, The Fifth Element, Sideways, Batman Begins/Dark Knight, Kung Pao, anything Mel Brooks, anything Miyazaki, Kill Bill, Ghost in the Shell, Unbreakable,

Music:
- Ah, sweet, sweet music. My tastes range from industrial alternative to cinematic film scores to acoustic guitar to borderline techno. I don't listen to much rap, R&B or country, but I think I can appreciate music of all genres. Some of my favorite artists: Nine Inch Nails (I saw them in November and may again in June), Hans Zimmer (my hero), Depeche Mode (hoping to see them in July), Days of the New, Alice in Chains, BT, John Williams, James Newton Howard, Thomas Newman, Sufjan Stevens ... I've recently really been enjoying Under the Influence of Giants and Rock Kills Kid. If you're familiar with Charley Hustle, Shitake Monkey, Hired Goons or Northern State, we should talk ...

Food:
- Forever my mistress. As much as I enjoy trying new and exciting things, there's little in this world as comforting as a familiar favorite food. I LOVE Asian food in general ... Thai, Japanese, Chinese, Cambodian, and definitely sushi. However, it's never a bad night, or even a bad time for pizza. I'm really not a picky eater. As much as I appreciate a perfect bowl of lobster bisque, I can be completely satisfied with plain pasta or a peanut butter sandwich.

The six things I could never do without

"Food, water, oxygen, the Sun, gravity, and all four dimensions."

Sorry, had to get that out of my system. I'll make an honest attempt.

- Sound
It's my most acute sense and where I derive so much of life's joy
- Creative outlets
Whether it's composing, writing or acting, I go a little crazy if I'm not pouring creative juices into something.
- Other people's art
Movies, music, photos, paintings, plays, etc. They make life so much more colorful.
- Good company
People to share all of the above and more with.
- Love and intimacy
As cynical as I've become, I'm a romantic and an optimist by nature. I'm happiest when I have someone special to share things with, and, well, I guess that's why I'm here. I crave the kind of bond that lets two people be completely comfortable with each other and themselves.
- Physical activity
I love my apartment and generally being a homebody, but I need a regular dose of the outdoors. Playing a game, going for a hike, tossing a ball, etc invariably does wonders for my general state of being.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

"This song is perfect for that new scene I've been writing..."
"Where do I find a lyricist who will get the music I write?"
"Precisely what differentiates: 'casually dating', 'dating', 'seeing someone', 'available' and 'in a relationship'?"
"What exactly is my type?"
"How long will I be happy with Plan B?"
"What the hell is Plan A?"

On a typical Friday night I am

Wishing I didn't have to work Saturday morning. And being sad that I have to wait until Monday for Questionable Content and XKCD.

A couple of upcoming Fridays should involve Rock Band parties. An application will be posted shortly for persons interested in such debauchery, though interested parties should absolutely let their voices be heard. (Pun not intended, but left all the same)

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I've never been legitimately drunk. My sensitivity to the smell/taste of alcohol combined with my semi-bizarre tolerance to it has made it nearly impossible. Every time my friends have attempted to correct this, I've gotten to be the one cleaning up after them and driving them home. 8 shots of tequila and a tall mixed drink in roughly 15 minutes = a slight buzz. Oh well...

And I turned down the chance to date a centerfold. Not simply on principle, but it should at least give some insight as to my priorities.

You should message me if

I dislike the notion of simply leaving a checklist in this section. Compatibility and chemistry is so much more than putting x's next to corresponding boxes. However, that doesn't mean I have no idea what I'm looking for or no basic preferences. I like to think I'm a generally awesome guy with a lot to bring a relationship, and am determined not to settle for less in return. If you aren't kind, generous and compassionate ... if you don't enjoy the little things or laugh often ... if you can't find the humor in the mundane or enjoy a chore performed with similar, fun-loving company, then I'm likely not the guy for you.

That being said, I'd love to hear from you if you have a good music or movie suggestion, if you have ideas of fun things I can do or places to go in the Lowell area, you want ideas on how to impress my roommate, or you generally feel like it for any real reason. I'm always open to meeting new people and making new friends, no strings attached.

... or if, "Sweet lemonade, yeah sweet lemonade" sounds familiar or hilarious.
