The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I recently learned that many people notice my mustache before anything else, but I don't know whether that was the first thing that they noticed, or if it is the first thing that they wanted to mention. I am curious as to which.

I have read many books, and I enjoyed most of them. It is my opinion that The Ship that Sailed the Time Stream by G.C. Edmondson was the best novel of the 20th century.

I an not generally into movies, because they are too simple, but there have been a few exceptions.

I am not a music fan per se, but I love good lyric poetry and some harmonic music. Several months ago I learned of the existence of the late Laura Allan. She was an excellent poetess, and I love her poetry very much; I wish that I could tell her that, but she died in 2008. Consider the sadness of her song "Looking for the Right One".

Food is good, and I like it.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
good conversation
good wine
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I regularly think about the fact that all actions in the universe are determined. The laws of physics and logic require that there be causes for effects, and the chain of cause and effect stretches back to the Big Bang (and before), and we can't notice the fact that our decisions were determined more than 13 billion years ago.

I don't know the details of why, but that is why I typing this right now. But I recently learned that there is solid evidence that the Many Worlds Interpretation is correct, and the universe may not determined, but it bifurcates when necessary. This knowledge was rather liberating to me. Then I learned that there may be determinism through all of the branches of the Multiverse. It doesn't make any difference whether there is determinism, because all possible (or reasonably probable) events will happen in one universe or another.
On a typical Friday night I am
