Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Unapologetic nerd/wallflower/feminist killjoy
You've caught me at an interesting point in my life. I'm starting
over, making some long-term goals happen, but unsure as ever about
which direction I'm pointing in. I've spent my life moving around,
never staying in one place for more than a few years, but I'm
nearing the end of that cycle (hopefully).
I've been a lot of things in my life. A military brat, an almost
marine biologist, a writer for a few old video game sites, a
receptionist at a 24 animal hospital, and now happily
directionless. I've realized over the years that big plans aren't
for me. I've done a lot of things, and been good at many of them.
There isn't one all-consuming love I have for any particular career
or field. I'm happy as long as I've got people I care about and the
time to spend with them.
In the meantime, I get by with a little help from my geek scene. I
love powerful stories, whether they're from books, comics, movies,
games, or friends, and I hope that, one day, some might come from
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
My dream is to be a writer living in the Pacific Northwest
surrounded by the inspiring beauty of temperate rainforests and
mountains. My reality has been a series of customer service-related
jobs on the east coast that have all but sapped my creative spirit
over the years. Which brings me to now, fresh out of a move from
DC. I'm spending some long overdue time with my family, and
regrouping before I make my final leap to Seattle sometime next
Until then, I'm taking in the beauty of the nearby mountains and
trying new things. If you've got any suggestions, I'd love to hear
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
- Pretending I'm in a music video when listening to music I
- Getting excited about new episodes of my shows.
- Pretending that I know what I'm talking about
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
If I had to guess, it would be my quiet interest. It can take me a
little bit of time to interact with new people, but once I do the
layers of social anxiety tend to flake away.
I also have 5/8" gauges in my ears. Past that, I've heard that I
smile with my eyes, which I think means I squint a lot.

Oh man, these lists always get out of hand...just ask and I'll be
willing to share, but if I started listing things I wouldn't
It's safe to assume if it involves comic book characters,
progressive or classic science fiction, or anything generally
considered nerdy, I'm into it.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
- Games, whether they're on a table, on a screen, or outside.
- Great food! I don't care what type, as long as it's got flavor
and isn't made with pieces of animals.
- A creative outlet -- be it a word processor, a pad of drawing
paper, editing software, or arts and crafts.
- Geeking out with people I care about.
- My cat, Rory Williams.
- The feeling you get when a great song washes over you and fills
you with feels.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
-Why nerd culture is so hostile toward everyone but straight white
-How hostile the world can be, and what can be done about it.
-What kind of super hero I would be.
-Crazy future technology, for better or worse.
-What it would be like to do really cool martial arts moves to do
mundane tasks, like folding laundry or cooking dinner.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Since I'm new in town, I don't actually know anyone. This means I'm
probably staying in, binge watching Netflix or Hulu, or playing a
game I can lose myself in.
I'd love an excuse to go out and explore the Salt Lake City area.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I got my cat a hoodie, and he doesn't seem to mind wearing it.
