My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a Chicagoan, a fact which will become eminently clear if we ever get pizza together. I also lived in New York for a good while...which will become eminently clear if we ever get pizza together. A spectral analysis would reveal I'm made almost entirely out of condensed enthusiasm and pop cultural ephemera. Also, I have this superpower where I basically don't sleep, which is cool. Basically, I'm the kind of guy who can use tiny details to Sherlock how a person's day went, but spend ten minutes looking for the pair of glasses I'm already wearing.

I used to put a bunch of pithy one-liners up here that were designed to show you girls how goddamn clever I am, but I've gotten pretty burned out on irony. I've been trying to embrace sincerity more lately, and I've ended up liking this version of me a lot more.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm a fantasy novelist. Right now I'm finishing edits on book one, drafting book two, researching book three, and forgetting about all those deadlines the moment a puppy enters my vicinity.

There is very little I won't do in the hopes of writing about it later.

When not panicking about my latest email from my editor, I enjoy playing my ukulele, picking up random new hobbies, plotting to destroy our society's toxic patriarchy from within, and cooking.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Writing. Trivia, unless it's about sportsball. Being a pungeon master. Cooking, because if one must eat, one should eat well, right?

I also beatbox. I'm not saying I'm good at it; what I am saying is that I'm really good at not giving a fuck about how bad I am at it.

I consume entirely too much culture for my own good, so these lists could go on forever. So with that in mind, I'll give you three of each:

BOOKS: Neil Gaiman, JK Rowling, William Shakespeare.

COMICS: Bryan Lee O'Malley, Brian K. Vaughan, Warren Ellis.

MOVIES: The Princess Bride, Ocean's Eleven, Kill Bill.

TV: Arrested Development, Justified, Hannibal.

CARTOONS: Steven Universe, Avatar: The Last Airbender/The Legend of Korra, Fullmetal Alchemist.

MUSIC: Social Distortion, The Replacements, The Ramones.

FOOD: Chili, bourbon, sandwiches of all kinds.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Something to write with
Something to write on
Something to write about
Something to write for
And something to write.

Also, beer.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
