I am quirky, intelligent, and imaginative.

My Self-Summary

I'm a writer, a poet, a future educator. I am unpublished as of yet, but it's one of my future goals.

I wake up with a jog and fall asleep with a poised pen. I am a very outdoorsy sort of person; I find nature and everything to do with it beautiful. I love watching the sun rise and set. I love listening to the birds wake up in the trees.

I don't particularly care for material posessions; the simpler things in life interest me. While I may pass a shop and say, "That's a really cute dress," chances are good that I won't buy it. Coming from a fairly poor family, I'm pretty sparing with my spending. I'm also a person that's not big on getting gifts. I actually sort-of hate having money spent on me. Strange, I know.

I'm a total language and culture nerd. I speak a few phrases in at least seven different languages, and am actively studying Japanese for the JLPT this December. I love learning about religions, traditions, and ethnic foods. I was originally going to be a theology major, but decided on education instead.

I enjoy chatting with people that know the difference between "its" and "it's" and also know how to use a dictionary when they don't understand a word. Good grammar is a major plus.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm in college right now. I'm an elementary education major. I would really love to study abroad for my bachlor's, but I don't see that happening. I would like to travel someday, though.

I’m really good at

Listening to people and giving advice, proofreading, editing, picking up new languages, asking questions, annoying librarians with large stacks of books.

The first things people usually notice about me

Should I really be filling this out? Wouldn't my answer be sort-of biased here?

Well my hair tends to stand out. It's this very unique shade of...everything. Really. It's strawberry blonde with brown and orange thrown in there at random. Somebody had fun when they drew up my genetic blueprints.

I laugh a lot. I find humour in most everything. I love to smile :] At the same time, I'm also a very sarcastic person. These two things blend together to give me a very quirky sense of humour.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

For books: Anything by Jim Butcher or Dean Koontz, The Anita Blake series, Harry Potter, The Noble Dead Saga, Trickster's Choice and Trickster's Queen, the Otherland series (and most anything by Tad Williams, for that matter) and about ten-thousand others I can't think of at this moment. I constantly have my face stuck in a book. Seriously. I run into walls D:

Movies: I'm not really a movies kind of person, but I prefer comedies and really dislike chick flicks.

Music: I'm pretty obsessed with music. I love all kinds and from all different countries. My CDs range from Mozart to Nickelback, from P!ATD to Disturbed.

Food: I've fallen in love with sushi as of late. I also really love Thai food. I love trying new things, too. I'll try most anything once :D

The six things I could never do without

1. A notebook. I must have something to write in!
2. A pen. How else could I jot my thoughts down?
3. My iPod. I need my music.
4. A cell phone, so I don't look insane when I mutter to myself as I write.
5. A good friend.
6. A boat. You never know when you'll be stranded on a desert island (insert eyeroll here).

I spend a lot of time thinking about

I daydream a lot about things that aren't real (or are they?). I'm a fantasy writer and it's my preferred reading genre as well. I think a lot about faeries and werewolves and that sort of thing. I'll sit in class and as I'm listening to my professor drone on, a thought will pop into my head like, "what if a vampire burst in here right now?" and I'll amuse myself with that idea and maybe laugh to myself a bit which gains some interesting glances from classmates. I have a suspicion that most of the people around me think I'm insane.

On a typical Friday night I am

Friday night finds me like most other nights of the week do; at home, working on a piece. I also craft a lot (sewing, crocheting, macrame, calligraphy), so I'll sometimes pick up a new project. Yes, that does sound really lame. I'm aware :D

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I own a Hillary Duff album. My mother bought it for me years ago for Christmas. I don't have the heart to throw it out.

I'm terrified of heights. I really, really hate going over tall bridges and sometimes have to cover my face.

While I'm perfectly fine with living bugs, dead bugs completely freak me out.

You should message me if

You're not expecting a quick hook-up. I just got out of a three-year relationship, so I'm really not looking for romance. I'm on here for friends and if something develops out of that, then great.

As I said before, proper grammar is a huge plus. Please don't message me if you have a grudge against spelling things correctly, or if using apostrophes makes you squeamish. If English is not your first language, it's understandable, but any person that completed high school in America should at least know the difference between there, their, and they're.

I'm looking to meet people that I can have fun talking to, that share similiar interests, and can challenge me intellectually. Yes, I'm a nerd and I love every minute of it :D
