Me: the short version Started out in Calgary, Alberta (still have the boots), escaped at 22 to start a 10-year-long stint treeplanting interrupted by a couple of short spells working as a reporter. Gave up on the bush, moved to Vancouver, got my BA in philosophy & communications, did one year teaching ESL and got my sorry ass into grad school toot sweet, scarred as I was by the experience. Drove a '61 Ford Fairlane across the country, did my MA in London, and now I'm here in Toronto apparently doing a PHD. In truth I spend too much time at the gym, tend a vegetable garden, neglect my houseplants, dress up like a fool on occasion and do what I can to enjoy life.

If I want to meet you, I'll send out my phone number pretty quick. This doesn't mean I'm desperate. As with so many others here, I just have limited patience for emailing. For me, the Internet is by and large just a tool for setting up coffee dates.

As for qualities, well, I won't attempt to list them here. Quality, for me, is something you show, not something you talk about.

What am I looking for? Internet dating really needs to be just one iron in the fire we all stir from time to time to see what's cooking. My greatest expectation here is to scare up a few 1950's styles dates (you know, the kind of dates that didn't end up in the sack). I'm not hellbent on finding a husband, s/o or soul mate here because, well, I'm pretty happy with my life the way it is. I do, however, love an excuse to dress up kind of purty, and meet a new fella once in a while (don't worry, in spite of my pix, I won't show up in a tutu or boa). If things move in a romantic direction, great! If not, well, we can always set each other up with our single friends. I genuinely like men and enjoy hanging out with you fellas, so a lack of romantic chemistry doesn't mean I'll just write you off or walk away disappointed.

I have to say, I tend to have more interest in fellas in the GTA because truth be told, I'm not a big fan of cars or driving (so no, I could care less what you drive ... unless, that is, it's motorbike, it's summertime, and there's room for me back there).

Getting me Ph.d in Social and Political Thought. I tend a vegetable garden, neglect my houseplants, train too much at the gym, long to be on Toronto Island, read the odd novel, play on Facebook and think about all the work I need to do on my dissertation.

Writing, listening and procrastinating. Bad at waiting for uncertain outcomes, reading and tap dancing.

Perhaps that I'm not psychic (i.e. how should I know?).

Depends on my mood. I've been known to go the gym because it's empty, other times I've gone clubbing, dinner, the symphony or hanging out watching a flick. I like Friday night movies in the theatre.

Sometimes I'm vanilla ... sometimes not.
