My self-summary
Curious, creative, pragmatic optimist seeks new adventures and friendship with long-term romantic partnership potential.

I am a very "normal*" person... nothing too out of the ordinary to be found here... I'm grounded, pretty happy thru the bumps and minor hurdles, find richness in the everyday as much as in the extraordinary (sometimes they are one and the same), and value true connection and companionship with others more than almost anything else. I'm pretty much looking for someone with a similar perspective, first to meet and have adventures with, and ultimately for deeper, longer term relationships of whatever color might develop.

* "Normal": Not to say that I'm not relatively interesting with good stories to tell, relatively entertaining and fun to be with, relatively attractive, warm and quite sociable, just well within the bell curve on most dimensions.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm creative—drawing, painting, making things since I was small. Now I work in software and online technology, and hugely enjoy making things collaboratively with others.

My two fabulous daughters are in college or soon to start there next year. I’m quite close to them… Skype and phone/text make it so easy to stay in touch.

Before the Bay Area became home 10 years ago, I lived in many places, both as a child and adult: Manhattan and 'burbs on two sides of it, DC, Detroit, Miami, several Southeastern states, and spent summers in LA as a teen.
I’m really good at
Creative problem solving. Listening, talking with people, being there for others. Exploring domains that interest me across the arts, culture, human behavior and institutions, technology and history. Appreciating and enjoying life.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm pretty friendly, approachable, and I smile a lot.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Reading, and learning, talking about ideas is a passion. I like lectures, seminars and researcher/author/artist talks at area museums, foundations, and conferences when I can. Member of the Long Now Foundation... wonderfully challenging conversations, ideas.

What I read about: science, behavioral economics, cognitive psychology, design, business, technology (history, human factors), fiction, biographies, humor.

TV: not much, occasional PBS.

Music: love many kinds.

Food: ditto, but on the healthy side. Like to cook for and with others best.

Getting outdoors: walk my lovely big dog, ride a very basic city bike (shopping and errands in town, longer on weekends, and usually 20 mi. or less, this is not serious biking by any means); hike in parks or longer walks at Baylands... and short walks from the Caltrain to the office.

Museums! We have some good ones here.

Art, also architecture, cities and urban spaces. I studied urban design in college.

Travel… enjoy it enormously except of course the airplane part. Read a book or listen to one. Audio books are wonderful.
