I am smart, caring, and ambitious.
My Self-Summary
I love computers, gadgets of all kinds, reading sci-fi, figuring
out how things work, and xkcd. I love music, good food, and
laughter. I'm an introvert, but I'm quite social in low-key
settings. I'm fascinated by how complex people are. I care a lot.
What I’m doing with my life
I have an awesome job in technology and I love my work. Outside of
that, I sing in a few choirs, do volunteer work with GLBTQ youth,
and hang out with friends.
Lately I've been trying to get outside more. I like hiking but have
never been very athletic, so I'm working on that. Also, I'm taking
swing dancing lessons!
I’m really good at
inventing really fruity and delicious mixed drinks, serious
conversations, computers, helping people think through things,
cooking italian food, getting nerdy jokes.
The first things people usually notice about me
Appearance: my hair! It's very curly.
Personality: that I'm delightfully geeky.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books
Some all-time favorites include: Lying, a Metaphorical Memoir, A
Wrinkle in Time, Microserfs, and everything Octavia Butler has ever
written. I also have a soft spot for YA Sci-Fi/Fantasy
novels.
Movies
I love the HBO film version of Angels in America, does that count?
In general I tend to like angsty and/or gay teen movies (Saved!,
CAMP, Mean Girls, etc). More recently, I LOVED Wall-E.
Music
Broadway soundtracks, the Indigo Girls, Girlyman, Dar Williams,
Brandi Carlile, Ryanhood, The Mountain Goats, Neutral Milk Hotel,
Casey Stratton, R.E.M., Blue Scholars, Moshav, choral music, and
(major guilty pleasure) Mika.
Food
I love most any kind of food. Om nom nom.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What kind of technology everyone will be using in 5 years (or 20).
Where I've been and where I'm going, in a general life kind of way.
Cool stuff I should go check out in Seattle one of these days.
On a typical Friday night I am
Taking off a little early from work then having a fabulous dinner
with friends. Or going to one of the many great theaters in this
town.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
Before I finished school, I always felt like I was old for my age.
But now that I'm part of Real Adult Society, I feel young and
stupid all the time. I'm trying to learn to enjoy that. :)
