I've recently uprooted my life for shits and giggles so now I live 3000 miles away from a most of my friends and family, but I just got a drum set, so I've got that going for me, which is nice. I play a lot of instruments, some better than I'll admit, but most not nearly as well as I'd like to.
I take every opportunity I can to learn new things, I've nearly always got something on my "to learn" list and am almost never without some sort of book or technical manual; a real nerd's nerd.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a musician first and foremost but I also work in IT as a help desk tech/sysadmin/general IT guy, though I went to school for mathematics; the kind that doesn't have a ton of application in the real world. I live in Tacoma and work in Seattle, and I'm in the process of moving a little bit closer to Seattle within the next month.
I’m really good at
I'm really self aware but other than that I don't really know what I'm good at.
The first things people usually notice about me
The buttons on my hat, I try to collect one anytime I play with a
band that has them available.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
My favorite book is The Master and Margarita but I like tons of books from a wide variety of genres. I read a lot of comic books but I prefer short run books to the mainstays. I like stories that have an ending more than stories that are an endless barrage of cliffhangers and retcons.
I like most music with the exception of boisterous hip hop with more verses than unique words, country music that sounds like Bon Jovi with a banjo and Bon Jovi themselves, whom I consider the musical equivalent of iceberg lettuce.
Much like my taste in music, my taste in films is rather eclectic. I'll pretty much watch anything but am not very good at discussing the merits of films individually. I still try, though, and fail miserably.
I'm not a very picky eater and will often mix styles and cultural influences when cooking because I prefer to cook experimentally. I have an extensive spice rack and I'm not afraid to use it.
The six things I could never do without
Some sort of vehicle to take me places
Some sort of instrument to create things
Some friends to talk with about anything and everything
I'm not too hard to please, so that's about it
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Random things; I like patterns and how they emerge and break down, and I like understanding the minutiae of how things work.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out playing a show, out for a drink, having friends over or just staying in with a good movie or show.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
It was me.
