My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm Bryan, sort of. I play instruments on stages and spend a lot of my free time thinking of complex ways to simplify things, essentially trying to be a computer. I also spend a lot of my time writing; songs, short stories, bad poetry amongst other things. I'm rather easily startled and I'm not certain if this makes me come across as loveable or simple. If it's both, I can accept that.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I work in IT, pressing buttons on things until they work properly and claiming that it's because of my "expertise." In my free time, and more of my not-free time than I'd like to admit, I play music.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I'm a musician and songwriter, and people seem to like that.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
The buttons on my hat, I try to collect one anytime I play with a band that has them available.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

The books I like are The Master and Margarita, House of Leaves, Nevsky Prospekt, Any Dostoevsky, Inferno, Anything by Paul Auster, The Harry Potter Series, The Narnia Chronicles, Terry Brooks' "Magic Kingdom" series and many others. Some of my favorite authors are Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams and Brian K. Vaughan. I read a lot of comic books but I prefer short run books to the mainstays. I like stories that have an ending more than stories that are an endless barrage of cliffhangers and ret-cons.

A sampling of music I listen to would include Miles Davis, Mountain Goats, Ben Folds, Phoenix, The Kooks, We Are Scientists, Tokyo Sex Destruction, Portugal The Man, Built to Spill, Fountains of Wayne, Cab Calloway, Louis Armstrong, Nat "King" Cole, Ben Lee, Knaan, Brother Ali, Mos Def, Musiq Soulchild, Common, some Wu-Tang, Talib Kweli, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Sidney Bechet, Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Gene Krupa, The Mars Volta, At The Drive In, If you've heard it I probably like it.

Much like my taste in music, my taste in films is rather eclectic. I can't really make a list on a moment's notice but a few favorites would be House of Fools, Serenity and Brick. There are more but I'd much rather have things to talk about in conversation than as exposition. I'm a Whovian and like most of what Joss Whedon touches.

I'm not a very picky eater and will often mix styles and cultural influences when cooking because I prefer to cook experimentally. I have an extensive spice rack and I'm not afraid to use it.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Musical instruments, six of them, doesn't really matter what kind as long as they're versatile.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
The synchronicity of flashing yellow lights in the wee hours of the morning.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Most likely playing a show or having some sort of impromptu jam session at the house.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
It was me.
