Found another bunker, or rather, it found us. We would have passed by without noticing it if they hadn't opened fire. Cox and Harris fell right away, poor bastards. I never liked Cox, but Harris deserved better. I told them it was stupid to hang around on the bow. The lieutenant's advise came in handy, though, "Throw the first grenade." Maybe if I'd have done that right off he and Barbera would still be here.

Why the hell were we escorting a officer alone, anyway? Didn't he ever learn about safety in numbers? Couldn't he have been flown inland if he needed to get there so fast?

I've turned the boat around, hopefully I meet some backup soon. Their troops'll be coming to check out what happened, they'll probably be looking for me afterward.

This might be my last entry. I really wanted to see Mars again, but maybe this is for the better. I've heard home's gone down the tubes since I left, and I'd rather remember a rural planet with snow around the poles and no commerce ring. Who knows, mayb-
