I come from Florida originally where I travel once a year to administer a small shrimping equipment company I own and go fishing for a few weeks.
Things I Do for Fun
I'm one of those guys with a smart TV and an interconnected home network that serves everything I need up nicely on all devices. Yes, it takes a bit of work to maintain but it's worth it. As a result, I can get anything I want to watch, hear, play or read on an electronic device from anywhere in my apartment. Yes, I know, a bit of a geek.
I also enjoy going out on the town several times a week where I haunt a few local bars with my former colleagues in the 15th. I usually go out after work to a bar across the street from my apartment with friends and then hit downtown during the weekends. I like nearly all parts of town, some more than others of course depending on what we are doing. Being single at present, I am known to be a bit of a night owl and am oftentimes the host of apartment parties that seem to go on forever into the night. Thank goodness for cool neighbors!
As a computer savvy individual, I frequently become the go to point for friends needing websites or help with their technology. So, I set myself up as a web re-seller and host. I run my private company's website on the equipment in the US and about 6 of my close friends websites too. I'm also known to fix computers or the occasional smartphone.
Yes, I mentioned a private company. It isn't very big (or profitable) but it is a fun hobby. I manufacture and sell recreational shrimping equipment in Florida. My website has about 1500 subscribers, a YouTube channel, Facebook page and Twitter feed. I provide a bunch of information for people who want to catch shrimp including recipes, maps, forums, tools, etc. in addition to the actual equipment that I manufacture and sell online. I somehow manage to do all this remotely from Paris with the assistance of a friend in Florida.
My work is a big part of my life. I am a web manager for a large non-profit organization that deals in international commerce and business policies at the WTO, UN, World Bank, etc. I basically run a web content management system and train employees on how to use it while supervising a team of developers. I've worked at the UN, for medium sized corporations in the states and as a consultant for various projects. Strangely enough, I don't have any formal training in web or computers - an autodidact in these fields to be honest.
