I am laid-back, funky-fresh, and kookoo-bananas.

My Self-Summary

Okay, I needed to revamp this section, so here we go...

*I'm an architecture grad student at USC by day, and a moonlighting DJ by night.
*I try to be well-rounded, and love to learn new things.
*I love to read, and can't comprehend people who don't.
*I'm a big goofy romantic at heart, and I do, in fact, enjoy long walks on the beach.
*I'm originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico. Yes, it is part of the US, not Mexico. I do indeed speak English, and no, I did not have to exchange my pesos when I came to California. I am a big fan of the siesta, though.
*I think intelligence and awkwardness are huge turn-ons.
*My favorite sport is tennis. I'm probably the worst player in the world, and my little brother beats me senseless every time, but I love it.
*I also enjoy hiking, camping, rock climbing, and other outdoorsy activities.
*I speak several languages (mostly just enough to get me in trouble)
*I have an obsession (some have said unhealthy) with all things Ikea. What can I say? I just love the Swedes. And their meatballs.
*Museums (art or science) are my favorite places to hangout. Libraries are a close second.
*Commas, (and parentheses), in my opinion, are severely underrated

What I’m doing with my life

I just started at USC for grad school, so that's basically the plan for the next two years. And then working to pay off my student loans... (sigh)

I’m really good at

Creative/artistic things. Math and logic problems. Learning new languages. Going on random adventures. Stumbling into awkward situations and navigating them with finesse (somewhat). Useless trivia knowledge.

The first things people usually notice about me

I don't know. Hmmm, I guess I never really asked anyone that. Maybe you could tell me?

A friend once described me as being very "Victorian"... I think that's the best way to put it. But once I get to know you I'm the friendliest and nicest guy on the planet.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: there are way too many to name. My favorite book is War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells: I've probably read it at least twenty times. My favorite writers are Wells, Douglas Adams, Gabriel García Marquez, Orson Scott Card and Isabel Allende. I also really love non-fiction, especially Brian Greene, Stephen Hawking and Richard Dawkins.

As far as music goes, I'll listen to anything. My tastes are too eccentric and varied to name everything, but my current favorites are DJ Shadow, Fat Jon, Pink Floyd, Ahmad Jamal, La Oreja De Van Gogh, and Zero 7. I recently found a ton of old Janis Ian records at a thrift store, so I'm really getting into her stuff.

I'm a HUGE movie buff, and I like everything from Comedy to Sci-Fi to the Classics, like Alfred Hitchcock. My favorite movies are probably Contact, Kung Fu Hustle, and Hamlet 2. Oh, and I love the James Bond movies!

Italian, Japanese, and Thai food hold a special place in my heart. Oh, and Indian! And Korean!

The six things I could never do without

I assume this excludes the necessities, like food, water, etc.

1. Family
2. Friends
3. Music
4. Coffee/espresso. A must have, or I'm a zombie...
5. A good book to read
6. A pen or pencil- I like to scribble and sketch

I spend a lot of time thinking about

I like to day dream. Mostly about life, the universe and everything.

On a typical Friday night I am

If I'm feeling social, then out with friends having a good time!

If not, I'll stay home and put on some old records or a movie and relax.

Unfortunately, I'm just as likely working last-minute on a school project that's due the following Monday, which involves staring at tiny lines on the computer screen, swearing at an uncooperative plotter, and practicing masochism with a hot glue gun and x-acto blades.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Small Hispanic women frequently compliment my laundry push-cart. It always catches me off guard and I still haven't thought of a good reply.

I also collect Metro bus timetables. I'm hoping to eventually get one for each line. Gotta catch 'em all!

You should message me if

If you think we would hit it off, don't stalk me, just send me a message! Don't worry; I'm mostly bark (with a little bite...)

If you're intelligent and witty (and maybe a little nerdy), I'll probably fall for you... Send me a message, and maybe we can talk, get some coffee, and see where things go.
