My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Just moved back into the city after living in the suburbs for a while. I know the city fairly well. But I am definitely looking forward to exploring more of it; now that I don't have a long drive home.

Now we go to the cliche list of attributes. However, I will also provide examples. I'll give you a few seconds to recover from the shock...
...
...

Spontaneous: Driving home after visiting a friend in the city, I decided I wanted to move back into the city. That was in the middle of February; I moved into my new place on April 12 and am already showing my house in Columbia to rent it out.
On a few days notice from a friend who had an extra ticket, I flew to LA for the premier of Meet the Robinsons.
On no notice, I drove with some friends to go see an opera in NYC; wound up seeing two.

Love to travel: In the past year I have sailed in the Caribbean (from St. Maarten to Martinique), visited friends and family in Europe (Sweden, Poland, Germany, and Switzerland), and went skiing in Colorado (broke my arm the first day; but at least I had great friends with whom to hang out for the rest of the week). And a bunch of regional trips as well.
This summer I'm going to sail around French Polynesia.

Enjoy a wide variety of activities:
I love to dance; whether it's 80s night at the Black Cat or Black Whiskey, iNdie Dance Party at DC9, swing dancing at Glen Echo, blues dancing at a hole-in-the-wall bar, or just a wedding, I'm usually one of the first people on the dance floor.
Skiing/Snowboarding; yes, I'm one of those people who go both ways.
Playing sports; especially football (the kind you play with your feet; soccer for you Americans) and ultimate frisbee. I also enjoy watching some sports like football (particularly Champions League and international matches), American football (Sundays tend to be my laundry day), the Olympics (I prefer winter, but I also enjoy the summer games), and ice hockey. However I don't prioritize watching sports. Except the World Cup, I prioritize watching the World Cup; but that's only for one month every four years.
Spending time with friends; whether it's board games, poker, happy hour, dinner, or just chatting, everything is better with the right group of people.
Seeing shows; I enjoy movies, dramatic and musical theatre, opera, concerts, comedy, and street performances. As long as it's a good show, the format is not important.

Other traits to don't lend themselves to examples:
I avoid drama.
I'm very social but also low-key. I don't need to be the center of attention. And I can fit in in almost any social situation.
I'm even-tempered. I haven't been in a physical fight since middle school. And when I have major disagreements with friends or SOs, I usually find a way for us to talk things out.

Here are some teasers to keep you interested:
I'm a political refugee.
I've been skydiving 100 times... before I was born.
I've been skinny-dipping in New Zealand... now I just need to see the rest of the country.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
A wide variety of things; see above.
For work I am an Instrumentation and Test Engineer. I really enjoy it because I have to figure out how things work. I work on a wide variety of things, so I'm constantly learning new things. Occasionally, I also get to blow things up; sometimes even on purpose.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Sarcasm.
Crossing the line in just the right way. Sometimes I fail miserably, but that usually leads to interesting stories.
Figuring out how things work and getting them to work; and it's a good thing that I'm very proficient at this, since that's my job.
Reading instructions. You would be surprised (or maybe not) how many times I've been asked to figure something out that is easily explained in the instructions.
Things I'm not good at: writing a succinct profile.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I've been told this on several dates now, so I might as well put it in. Apparently the camera does not love me, because I'm told I look better in person than I do in pictures. So as good as I look in the pictures, I'm even hotter in person.

My height... kind of hard not to.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I enjoy a wide range of things. Also, my favorites depend on my mood; so depending on when you ask me, you may get different answers. The following lists are by no means exhaustive.

TV: Firefly, Community, The Daily Show, How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, Game of Thrones, Archer, Better Off Ted, Doctor Who, Anamaniacs, Craig Ferguson

Movies: The Princess Bride, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Star Wars (Old School), The Fifth Element, Barbarella, Dead Poets Society, Hudson Hawk

Books: Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchet, Shakespeare, Tolkien, Catch 22, A Song of Ice and Fire, various histories

Music: I listen to most types of music; but I prefer 80s New Wave, Brit-Pop, Classic Rock, Indie Rock, Big Band Swing, Jazz... especially music I can dance to.
Favorite bands include: Beatles, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Rush, No Doubt, Garbage, They Might Be Giants, U2.
And of course, NPR. I know it's not music, but it's usually on in my car.

Food: I'll try almost anything. I have yet to go to a restaurant where I couldn't find something I liked.

Theater: Shakespeare (saw King Lear at the Globe in London, amazing), Les Miserable, Rusalka, Wagner's The Ring Series, Avenue Q.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
The is not much that I absolutely need (aside the basics needed for survival). The only thing that I could never do without is friends and family.

However, here are some things that do make life more fun:
Dancing
Travel
Raspberries
Good Movies
And the time and money to do all the things I want to do.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
My mind usually wanders to many different topics, but a lot of them are about travel and coordinating my various activities.

I enjoy keeping up to date on international and domestic affairs. I also try to understand why things happen in the world. And I like to ponder rhetorical questions, like what is wrong with congress?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
There is no typical Friday night. I may be doing any of the activities listed above.
