I am quirky, freethinking, and a daydream believer.

My Self-Summary

Well, I am 29, I have zero children, a needy cat, great friends, social flutterby and work a 9-5 job.

WELCOME TO MY PROFILE! I AM A MUCH BETTER PERSON IN PERSON!

I have a blog. I gush and rant there. Not kept up as much in the summer months. SpacegirlBlues' Blog

I prefer to call myself a secular humanist instead of an atheist.

I am not a fan of typical condiments like ketchup and mustard. I prefer horseradish, gorganzola or Franks Red Hot. Can never go wrong with onions or garlic though.

When I need clarity, I go out into the woods. I love the smell of dead leaves in autumn and woodsmoke from a home fireplace on the first chilly enough day of the year.

What I’m doing with my life

I am a buyer for a local company. I enjoy my line of work. I live in the town I grew up in but have lived elsewhere. Perhaps I am sort of stuck here for now. I wouldn't mind relocating eventually.

My passion in life is Dancing. freestyle. Or Ballroom Dancing like, waltz, cha cha, hustle, foxtrot.

I also go geocaching. I am very dependent on my GPS. I don't mind getting lost so long as I can easily become un-lost.

Started going to the gym. Trying to keep going to the gym. Maintaining motivation.

performance poetry This is another new avenue for me. I write, bare my soul to people. Friends back me on instruments. I can't play music but if I could, it would be the violin.

roller derby A league just formed in my town. I have a winter of rigorous training getting ready for a goal of first bout in March! River Valley Roller Girls!!!

travel When I have vacation and money I just want to travel. It's my new goal in life as opposed to other goals I once had that did not go as planned.

I am obsessed with maps. I could be engrossed with an atlas for hours. I am also fascinated with mass transit. Subways, EL's, Tubes, Trams, Buses. You city folk take mass transit for granted. Yeah, I have heard the stories though.

I’m really good at

Staying up way too late.
*dancing
*drinking cheap wine
*writing (so I have been told)
*drinking wine that is a little better than cheap.
*witty banter (in my mind, but sometimes it's ends up me, with my foot in my mouth.)
*randomness
*locating difficult to find items for people.
*reflex
*charming the HELL out of people and being totally sincere about it. ;P
*skating (blades, skates, ice). Well, I am probably rusty, just give me a day.

The first things people usually notice about me

I have been told:

"You have this aura around you."
"You're an old soul."
"You remind me of Flo from those Progressive commercials."

I can be a bit quirky. Sometimes a bit animated, but not so much that you think I will elbow you in the eye.

I consider myself pretty open-minded. Around these parts, probably considered pretty free-spirited.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

For my music taste, check out my lastfm profile: My Last FM Page

Quick summary David Bowie, Delta 5, Au Pairs, Otis Redding, Patti Smith, Junior Kimbrough, Heartless Bastards, Talking Heads, punk, post-punk, new stuff, old stuff, inbetweenstuff

Movies, I love are, Beautiful Girls, High Fidelity, Amelie, Annie Hall, Pretty In Pink, Swingers, and many more. I have been getting into Foreign Art House movies lately.

I have not had a TV since Oct. 2008. I don't miss it one bit. I might watch a couple shows online if I am tired or bored. PBS is streaming now and I can netflix any documentaries or series that I want. I LOVE The Tudors, own all the Sopranos, Sex and the City, blah blah.

Books: Chuck Klosterman's writings among other misc. non-fiction works....and some fiction. I should probably read more. I've have books. I think I would much rather write one.

Food: Yum. I am not a picky eater. I am not a health nut but I don't eat garbage food...well, maybe once a month. I eat meat..deal

I am OBSESSED with the 1920's prohibition era. Just had to throw that in there.

The six things I could never do without

Dancing, Friends, music, Diversity, Coffee, Laughing wine quiet nights, staying up late My GPS, It has been my ticket to freedom.

....okay
Conversation randomness thrift stores My ever-growing music collection, all 37gb of it (and growing)

Most girls dream of a walk in closet, I heart my external hard-drive, that is my walk-in closet.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Separation of church and state, pumping myself up to go to the gym after work, matters of the heart, starting a floor hockey league.

Well, not really on the floor hockey but it would be a smashing good time.

Pet Peeves. (well, I really don't spend a lot of time thinking about them...)
*The dried up lotion that comes out of the pump.
*School busses. (not part of my fascination with mass transit, too many stops) This does not, however, detract from my love of the song Bus Stop by the Hollies
*The song Sweet Home Alabama....oh hell, the whole state of Alabama because without it, we wouldn't have to hear that song. :)

On a typical Friday night I am

Sometimes I go out and socialize with my friends. My friends are amazing. Very talented, encouraging, warm people.

Sometimes I like to stay in, make a pot of coffee, be a night owl. Watch movies, look up random stuff online.

My ideal Friday night would include my best friend and partner (one person), easy, witty, maybe absurd conversation, a bottle of wine and a porch.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I recently played a pretty mean air guitar to Bon Jovi's, Livin' on a Prayer. 'Twas a sight to behold.

I once had a dream that I met Chrissy Hynde of the Pretenders at a two story Cracker Barrel outside of Madison, WI. In the dream my dad and I stopped there, got our food and went to the upper level to eat. There was a piano there and the suddenly Chrissy Hynde comes in to record a song. Un-fricken-believable as I ate my chicken fried chicken, mashed potatoes and a gravy sogged biscuit.

You should message me if

You are an open-minded individual who is somewhat socially aware, accepting and tollerant, not too many skeletons in the closet, drama free. If you have an affinity for the goofy, absurd, quirky, zany, ironic, eclectic, sarcastic and travel. If you appreciate warmth, human kindness, hugs, soul-searching, all encompassing human intimacy.

I also appreciate those who simply down to earth and well rounded and not into maintaining some sort of image.
