I am constantly changing, probably crazy, and love music & travel.
My Self-Summary
After a lot of looking at my life the last day and a half I decided
that I should probably re-write this entire profile. A lot of this
dealt with looking at what I want out of life, etcetera. A lot of
that had to do with totaling my job (well at least the requirements
of it) totally changing which threw me for a loop, but not anywhere
close to what was to come with me later totaling my car that same
day. As though those two were not enough of a shock to my system I
came close to losing my life very violently a day after. Yea, I
guess those things happening all at once can make you think a lot
about a lot of things. I can’t really talk about the last one too
much, but you can ask me if you want. My life is nothing if it is
not interesting, and I have had co-workers tell me that my life
resembles more of a movie or a drama than a regular life. I am
tired of all that.
What I’m doing with my life
I am re-evaluating my life and what I want from it (see above).
Also I am looking for a new car, well at least dowing research as
to what kind of car that I want. I am debating first on if I am
going to purchase it outright (pay cash) or finance it, or maybe
even lease. While I love owning my car with no payments I also know
that I can get a much better, or at least much nice vehicle if I
finance it. Then there is the other important decision about what
kind of car I want. I have generally tended to like larger cars,
and had a 2006 Ford Taurus that I bought in 2005. After totaling it
and being able to walk away it kind of makes me glad to drive a big
car. By the way that was my first accident ever so not too bad I
guess, 16 years without an accident. At the same time I kind of
want a convertible and for a while (earlier this year) owned a 1975
MG that I was restoring. No matter what I did there were always
other things breaking so I gave up on that and sold the car.
Looking back now I am glad I did since I would not have walked away
from the accident if I had been driving that car.
Anyway back to the debate, I am still not sure what I should buy. I
work in boulder so a Subaru or Prius seem appropriate there, and at
the same time so does anything that is a hybrid. Also I think it is
a great thing to be more socially conscious and do the right thing
to try and reduce my carbon footprint (it is reduced a lot more now
that I am not driving, no I did not get a rental car). But then
again I kind of want a convertible and there are no hybrids of
those that I know of. A while back Audi was going to make one but I
never heard anything about that after a few articles in Car and
Driver or some other auto magazine, and as far as I know they do
not have one yet. A wrangler would be nice here, but I prefer
something more sporty than that, or at least a car that can hit 120
and still have a comfortable ride, but then again I do not drive
fast that often. I guess I just have to figure out what I want. So
that is about what I am doing with my life at this current moment.
I’m really good at
Okay so this will make me sound like a geek, but I am good at most
things that relate to technology in one way or another. Part of it
has to do with my job, and part of it is just natural for me I
guess. I am a good chef. I am pretty smart. I used to be good at
photography. I am good at sailing, and flying airplanes (yes those
two go together because there are a lot of similarities within
certain elements of both such as navigation).
The first things people usually notice about me
Initially the way I look just as with anyone, but after that
probably the way that I act such as always saying please and thank
you, holding the door for women. In general I think that I was
raised to be polite and patient. Also I have been told that I have
a lot of confidence, but that it does not come out overwhelmingly
as cockiness.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Do you want a list?
I read for pleasure and work and school a lot. John Steinbeck is my
favorite author, but I read a lot of different titles. (Of Mice and
Men, Stumbling Upon Happiness, The Art of Travel, Cannery Row, Into
the Wild, and Computer and School books.) I do not get to read for
pleasure as much as I would like to.
Somewhere in between big Hollywood productions and Indi films lies
a realm of movies that I love. Moves that have enough of a budget
and a large enough release so that the production is well funded
and the final cut looks good, yet original enough that they
generally only play in a few theatres in a given area that is the
size of Denver. Examples of these would be The Darjeeling Limited
(I like most things by Wes Anderson), Food, Inc., and 500 Days of
Summer.
I like most all music, but there are certain times I do not like
certain types. I also tend to like most foods, and will try
anything (literally anything, I have had some strange dishes
before).
The six things I could never do without
You really should try giving everything you own away sometime, it
will show you that there really is not much that you could not live
without. There are however some things I would not want to live
without. Friends, Family, Photos, Music, Good Food, Love.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
So I just figured out that in the last three years I have not been
able to maintain any type of relationship for over two weeks. I
would like to say it is not me, but I am the only common factor in
the relationships so it pretty much has to be me.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I am working late tonight, and I just realized that while I am
apparently scared of the dark, or at least my office in the dark. I
am not sure why though. Does not make a lot of since.
You should message me if
You like to travel and you are able to, even if you have not
traveled much, (I just think that would be fun, having someone to
go out and explore the world with).
You want to settle down someday, probably not today or tomorrow,
but maybe in a few years.
You like an eclectic mix of music (Death Cab, Bare Naked Ladies,
Jay-Z, TI, Foxy Brown, Bone, NWA, Eazy-E, LL, Frank Sinatra, Barry
Manilow, Peaches, Blackhawk, Alabama, Fleetwood Mac, Steely Dan,
Jackson Brown, Cake, Paul Simon, Killers, Cyndi Lauper, Melissa
Etheridge, Nat King Cole) and movies (Big Fish, What Dreams May
Come, Away We Go, Sideways, Zoolander, Idiocracy, Romantic comedies
and anything Wes Anderson or Kevin Smith make)
You think that we would get along without too much effort most of
the time.
You like affection, and generally being around people.
You like to read (at least sometimes) and consider yourself
intelligent enough to carry on a conversation. You like to talk and
also to listen.
You are not afraid of meeting in person and actually want to do
that at some point.
