My self-summary
I have a sarcastic and ludicrous sense of humor, an interest in too many subjects, and curly hair. I don't actually wear glasses, but I really do have a patchy beard.

I'm a writer, graphic designer, feminist, political agitator, smart-ass, and life-long video gamer.
What I’m doing with my life
I've written a few novels, a handful of novellas, and a veritable bunchy-load of shorts. They've been generally well-received and have sold decently... but even decent sales add up to a pretty crappy living. Frankly, it's difficult to remain dedicated and focused when you're broke, devoid of social contact, and aging faster all the time, so I'm currently rebooting my life. In the short term, that means I'm building my freelance graphic design business.

Y'know what they say: first you do the design work, then you get the money, then you spend the money promoting your books, then you get the power... then you get the women?

Wait. I don't think that's actually what they say.
I’m really good at
I'm eloquent, thoughtful, diplomatic, and naturally empathic (much to my chagrin). I have a decent eye for design, and I'm an excellent writer. Even readers who dislike my work take time to mention that it's well written.

I'm also a pretty skilled whistler, so if that sort of thing annoys you, you should probably steer clear.
The first things people usually notice about me
Curly hair, attentiveness, possible resting bitch face. (Is there a non-gendered term for that?)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I'm a media glutton. Sort of comes with the hermit lifestyle.

Although I like a bit of everything, I prefer things with spaceships, aliens, singing dwarves, angry dragons, and the kind of drama that punches you right in the gut. I'll listen to pretty much any kind of music, but left to my own devices, I gravitate toward jazz and stuff that sounds like broken robots trying and failing to hump one another (wub, wub wub).

More specifically...

Foods: Mexican, Indian, Mediterranean, junk food, fancy food... food in general.

Music: Rodrigo y Gabriela, Daft Punk, Queen, Tool, Metallica, Justice, Deadmau5, Miles Davis, Stanton Moore, movie soundtracks, classical, etc.

Books: Dune, Iain M. Banks, China Miéville, Paulo Coelho, any random thing that grabs my attention.

TV: Yes. Pretty much all of it.

Movies: Lord of the Rings, Marvel movies, anything sci-fi, anything action, and I have a massive weakness for romantic comedies.
The six things I could never do without

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Pretty much everything under the sun... physics, metaphysics, the meaning of life, the perfect sandwich, how jokes work, why I find someone beautiful, politics, why my political ideas are probably wrong, how to induce moments of catharsis in an audience...

And linguistics. I'm always thinking about linguistics.
On a typical Friday night I am
Writing, catching up on the night's TV, competing heatedly at Jeopardy from the couch.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit

I spend too much time idly clicking around this site. When I find women in the 95% match range, I almost always fall instantly and madly in love with them, swept up in a whirlwind fantasy of our awkward first date, our adventures through small towns and solemn forests, our quiet evening parties with friends... our wedding day. Then I come crashing back down to reality with a thud. The entire process takes about five minutes, after which I sullenly return to whatever else I was doing and put the entire ordeal behind me.

I know what I want. I know who you are, more or less. I've just never known how to get from here to there.

So, here's you: ridiculously smart liberal feminist, equally interested in both science and art. You likely have an advanced degree, though you may have dropped out of college because a formal education just didn't agree with you (and you've gone on to study a wide variety of subjects on your own). Your tastes in almost everything are eclectic, and you're forever compelled to broaden your horizons, dabbling in and trying everything just to understand what other people see in it.

You're spiritual and interested in all religions, but were probably raised either atheist or Jewish. You prefer quiet and desolation, but occasionally crave the energy of bustling cities and live events. You're a voracious reader, and (almost undoubtedly) wear glasses.

Odds are, you're polyamorous.

You love the strange and the peculiar; you're quick-witted but not cruel; you're driven to save the world, but forever afraid you're not up to the task. And despite being cynical and sarcastic on the outside, deep down, you're still that bright-eyed five year old who believed wholeheartedly in true love. You never gave up on it.

...and, based on my searching, you're anywhere but here.
