My self-summary
I'm a writer and graphic designer, and I play a lot of video games. That's about the size of it. I'm also a trivia nut, and am likely at any moment to be researching some random thing that struck my fancy.

I'm a big fan of quirky people, and I have an extremely absurd sense of humor. I think the best folks are the ones who find something to laugh at wherever they look... and I've always aspired to be just such a person.

I'm 33 now (yikes!), and am waaaay less famous than I intended to be. I really wanted to be running my own banana republic somewhere by now, but I just haven't found the right island yet. It's harder to become a dictator than you might think.

Oh, and I'm a dyed-in-the-wool smart ass. If that sort of thing annoys you, we're probably not meant to be.
What I’m doing with my life
I write science-fiction & fantasy because I love inventing new worlds. If reviews are to be believed, I'm also pretty good at it.

Ultimately, I'd like to help revolutionize how writers distribute their work, because the current system is toxic and predatory. What's life without lofty ambitions, right? As someone said, it's better to aim for the moon and miss than to aim for the ground and hit it.
I’m really good at
Writing. I'm good. How good? I can kill a man in five words.

I'm also pretty sharp with a mouse and stylus. I've attained a third degree black belt in Photoshop, I'm trained in the arcane arts of Blender, and I know Illustrator well enough to get angry at its creators on a daily basis.

You're totally impressed, right? Right?

Oh... I can also whistle like a bandit. It's one of those things you either find totally obnoxious, or... wait, was there another option?
The first things people usually notice about me
The first thing people usually mention after meeting me is that I'm clever. I think there are worse things to be in this world.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Feel free to skip this section... It's long-ish, and who really cares anyway?

Books: This is a mish-mash... Frank Herbert's Dune. Iain M. Banks' Culture books. China Miéville's Perdido Street Station, The Scar, Iron Council. The Illuminatus Trilogy. Fletch. The Great Gatsby. Tao Te Jing. Charles De Lint. The Zombie Survival Guide & World War Z. The Dresden Files. Anything by Jon Ronson.

Movies: Zero Effect. Big Trouble in Little China. The 5th Element. Star Wars (the originals). The Thing. Undercover Brother. Alien. Princess Mononoke. The Incredibles. Ratatouille. The Amazing Spider-Man. Forgetting Sarah Marshall. The Avengers. Pretty much every RomCom ever.

Music: Upbeat Jazz (Stanton Moore is a current favorite). Rodrigo y Gabriela. Disturbed. Tool. Buckethead. Dubstep (yeah, the whole genre). MoTown (that genre too). Salsa music. World music. Pop. I'm pretty eclectic.

TV: Sitcoms... the bloody lot of them. Japanese cartoons with giant robots, especially Robotech. Top Chef. Jeopardy. Orphan Black and a tons of other shows from the BBC.

Foods: My own cooking (which I do often). Other than that, I love trying out new cuisines, and anything spicy is a definite bonus.
The six things I could never do without
The sun, the moon and stars. Wispy clouds. A rolling fire. Garlic.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Story structure. Linguistics. Color theory. Developments in computer hardware. Grammar. Geometry and surface topology. Video game studios. Sex. Conspiracy theories. Anything peculiar.
On a typical Friday night I am
Watching something on Netflix. Cooking. Watching Jeopardy or maybe Top Chef on the DVR. Possibly looking for something to do (and failing more often than not).
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Since June, I've lost about 45 pounds, and now all of my clothes fit me like garbage sacks. That'd seem to imply that I was previously shaped like a garbage sack.
