My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I have never eaten a bug on purpose but I'm willing to try it if it's covered in chocolate. But nothing with a gooey center. No way. If you like eating bugs with gooey centers, then hit the bricks, buddy.

I spent my twenties living in Alaska and Hawaii, and have been back in the Philly area for about four years. I want to meet someone who is up for checking out all of the great music, art, theater, food, hiking and general people-watching that Philly and the surrounding area has to offer.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I work in product development for a travel company. It's 95% desk job and 5% travel, but that 5%! I'm doing what I want to be doing and I feel very lucky.

Other than work, I try to get out and take photographs as often as possible. I draw and paint with watercolors a bit, and I'd like to take a painting class this fall. I got a motorcycle license this summer and I want to get better at riding, but first I need to buy a bike.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Looking at the world through a camera, daydreaming while listening to music, reading books in hammocks, finding cool bugs, making jam, being open-minded, growing plants, improvising, appreciating all kinds of art, exploring near and far.

I'm better at reading books than watching TV and movies because I can stop and think about things without missing anything. I'm a slow but voracious reader. Recently I've been into nature writing, but I mostly read fiction.

Some favorites:
The Sheltering Sky by Paul Bowles
Dune (hence my username)
She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb
The Wool series by Hugh Howey
The Odyssey series by Arthur C. Clarke
Bound for Glory by Woody Guthrie

I need to invest in a record player so I can lay on the floor and listen to Astral Weeks by Van Morrison, or Animals by Pink Floyd. I try not to miss Funky Friday on xpn. The most recent show I went to was Future Islands and Beach House in Baltimore. I wish I could have seen LCD Soundsystem when they were still together.

I love trying new restaurants and have a deep appreciation for good food, beer and wine. Good barbecue, Indian curries, ice cream, shawarma and a cold ayran, mmm.
