My self-summary
Non-religious, civil libertarian leaning, young professional type.

Some other things I feel shed some light on who I am. I have loved games and history for essentially my entire conscious life. My dad got me into Civil War history as a kid and that has branched out into all aspects of history, though I do still have that primary interest in military history. With games, again I remember always have an interest in card games, chess, and more recently some of the newer euro boardgames. Not much into video games, but anything that poses an intellectual challenge is good times in my book.

I would say that I am a fairly expressed introvert. That is, I am okay doing things on my own, am independent to a fault sometimes, and I need my quiet time (not necessarily alone time though), to recharge the ol' batteries. If you are an introvert yourself, you probably know exactly what I am talking about.

I also generally try to remain stoic about things. That is, I strive to be someone who doesn't sweat the small stuff, someone who forgives quickly, and someone who tries to find meaning in every situation.
What I’m doing with my life
I am an attorney for a federal agency in downtown Akron. It is admittedly an odd job in that I don't go to court, but I have flexible hours and enjoy a fairly low stress workweek, which allows me to ....
train for duathlons and running races (recovering triathlete here). I've been making an effort over the last couple of years to get out to some of the bigger duathlons both nationally and even internationally. I went to what is called long course Duathlon worlds last year (2013) in Switzerland, which was a great (and hilly) experience, and currently am working towards long-course Nats in North Carolina in May.

Ultimately, staying active is something that is important to me, and something I plan to keep doing until I physically can't. Eating healthy (most of the time) is also important to me.

I also have two cats, who keep me constantly entertained and annoyed. One is named Spirit, hence the username.
I’m really good at
expressing myself through writing, being on time, and keeping a level head. And while I don't know enough to work in a bike shop, I do know the basic of bike repair/assembly.
The first things people usually notice about me
I've been told by strangers, friends, and coworkers, that I look like Kevin Bacon circa Footloose. ???
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Music: I've never been much for song lyrics, as rhythms have always spoken to me more. So that said... Meshuggah, Drake, Tool, Pantha Du Prince, Pantera, Animal Collective, John Talabot, This Will Destroy You, Mogwai, uplifting trance ... I could be here all day.

Shows: True Detective, Breaking Bad, The Wire, A Game of Thrones, Mad Men, Friday Night Lights, Twin Peaks, the first two seasons of Homeland.

Movies: Amelie, The Big Lebowski, Mulholland Drive, Good Will Hunting, Wall-E, Gladiator, A Very Long Engagement, Saving Private Ryan

Books: Blood Meridian, The Sound and the Fury, A Song of Ice and Fire, American Pastoral, All the Pretty Horses, The Color Purple.

Food: I am not a picky eater but I have been vegan for the last 8 years or so. I am vegan for animal rights reasons. I've dated vegans and non-vegans and found that it makes little difference in terms of compatibility for me. If you *love* meat though, we probably will not be very compatible.
The six things I could never do without
A coffee before 10am
Cats
Living close to green space
Regular exercise
Pilot G-2 07s. Black.
Music
I spend a lot of time thinking about
what evil villains do in their spare time. Do they wash dishes? Fold laundry? These are the questions of our time . . . .
On a typical Friday night I am
Hanging out with friends or enjoying a quiet evening at home after the week.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I watch Girls. Season 3 was disappointing.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 24–32
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
you aren't allergic to cats, you enjoy being active, you think we have some things in common, share some values, etc etc ....
