I am caring, comfortable, and confident.

My Self-Summary

I am a fairly open minded guy who is currently living in Springfield, MO (the reason I am listed as Portland, is because I plan on moving there in a few months). I have moved around due to being a military brat, but I am still looking for the place that I am comfortable living. I am currently going to school online for a degree in simulation and game design. It has been something I have wanted to do for a long time and am finally getting around to it.
I am a bit of a gypsy, in the sense that I like to travel and move around. Well, I actually hate the actual moving part, but I do like to get new experiences that come with living in a different area. I would like to settle down somewhere, just need a reason to stay I guess (at least thats what I tell myself).
I am a bit of a nerd, and I am proud to admit it. I spend more time than I probably should browsing wikipedia and learning random and useless knowledge. But I should be able to kick butt if I ever go on a quiz show right?
I believe in honesty above all other things. I figure there is really no reason to lie about who you are. If people like you for who you really are, great. If they only like what you are showing them, and its a lie, then are those the kind of people you really want to be with? Besides, no one can keep a lie like that going forever. Eventually you will slip up and they will see the real you (and be even more upset that you had been lying).
I would love to be able to find someone to share my life with, although I guess in a way, I am not actually looking. I tend to just let things flow. I like to make new friends, and see where things go from there. I have lived in this area for 5 years, and I realized I really dont have many close friends here. I have lots of people I know and acquaintances, but not true friends.
Have lived in this area for almost 5 years now and still not quite sure what to make of it. I look around and notice that I start knowing people here and there. Most people might be comfortable with that, but it has always bugged me a bit. Not sure if a big city would be better suited for me though, since I do sometimes like the smaller town feel. I guess overall, I will probably end up on the outskirts of a major city. Close enough to enjoy the benefits of a large city, but far enough to not feel the crammed feeling.

What I’m doing with my life

Going to school online and working to pay the bills. Saving up to move to Portland.

I’m really good at

I have been told that I am a really good listener. I may not always have the answers that someone seeks, but I can listen like no one else. I guess since I am studying for it, I am good at designing video games

The first things people usually notice about me

Probably my eyes or my smile, at least thats what people have told me in the past. For me, I have never really liked my smile, and feel my eyes are just average. From my perspective, I think I would notice that I am a bit goofy, but that seems to work for some people, so I dont complain.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I dont tend to read as much as I used to (or should), but when I do, I like to read Robert Asprin.
I like pretty much any movie. My favorites tend to be the ones that have surprise endings. One of my favorite movies is The Replacements. I can watch it any time.
I will listen to just about any music and have a wide range of likes, some that are even not mainstream. Some of my favorites are Sarah Brightman and Gregorian.
Love italian food, and also like mexican and chinese. I do like to get sushi every once in a while as well.
TV, I like Scrubs, Boston Legal, and have recently found Glee.

The six things I could never do without

Always hate these kind of questions, since you never know if you should be serious, goofy, or practical. I mean, obviously things like food, water, and air you would have a hard time to do without. Then again, reading other peoples lists sometimes makes you wonder, are they actually being serious or goofy. I guess my list is more practical/serious.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Random things mostly. Are you sure you want to open the box that is my mind? I will say that my mind does seem to stay busy thinking alot of the time. I think about both normal and odd things.

On a typical Friday night I am

Probably at home playing on the computer or watching a movie. Depends if I am currently with someone or not.
I guess it really depends on my current situation. If I am in a relationship, I like to go out and do things. I tend to be pretty open minded of what we can do, though I will say my party/club/bar scene days are past me.
By myself though, I tend to be more low key, staying in and watching a movie. Trying to catch up on some reading (doesnt seem to work as often as I would like)

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

That I dont mind telling people things, but the question needs to be asked. I dont tend to just volunteer info.
I guess one interesting tidbit about me, is that I do not drink. I dont mind having something if I am out at a nice dinner, but generally I do not go out of my way to buy any.

You should message me if

You feel we would get along. I am always looking to expand on the people that I know. I love to talk with people about new things, because you never know what you might end up finding out you like. Within a day of joining this site, I have already found a new interest that I never knew about.

I guess a better question, is why shouldnt you message me? There are a few answers to that. First, if you are fake or a liar, dont even waste my time. Be yourself, even if you think yourself is a bit out there. Interesting people will win me over more than people that just pretend to be normal. If there is something odd about yourself, let me know, it just might be a conversation starter. Plus, you never know who might share that oddity (trust me, there are all kinds of people out there in the world)
