My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm pretty proud about not fitting any stereotype too closely, but geek is a label that more or less fits. I grew up weird, thinking and reading instead of learning how to interact with other people. I've gotten better, fortunately; these days I'm no more awkward in social situations than a mudskipper is on land.

I like videogames a lot, but probably not the ones you're thinking of. I'm a game snob like some people are music snobs, eschewing the bland popular games for unusual indie games, games with artistic merit, dabbling in making games myself. I'm that kind of music snob too, actually. I'm an all-around connoisseur, a dilettante, and probably some other pretentious French words.

(I'll just leave this high-tech hobo sign here: NSPP)
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I finally got a degree in telling computers what to do and now I'm trying to learn how to get people to give me money for doing so. In my free time I've been coding games and making bizarre electronic music with no commercial potential.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Pop'n Music, twin-stick arena shooters, and noticing Wilhelm screams. And by all accounts I give excellent hugs.

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: I prefer thought-provoking, well-written escapism, which generally means hard sci-fi or the less fluffy sorts of fantasy, but occasionally delving into "literature", whatever that means. Examples: Douglas Adams, Iain Banks (I'd join the Culture in a heartbeat), Greg Egan, Margaret Atwood, Gene Wolfe, George R. R. Martin, K.J. Bishop, China Mieville, Roger Zelazny (Ok, it's mostly trash. But such entertaining trash!), Larry Niven, Neil Gaiman.

Movies: Most of what I like seems to be dark, artsy or foreign. Favorite directors include Takashi Miike, David Lynch, Stanley Kubrick, Terry Gilliam and Jean-Pierre Jeunet, and I have a strange, undying love for Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead.

Music: Sturgeon's Law applies to all genres, but then so does the corollary that 10% of everything isn't crap. So my library's a bit eclectic. Some highlights: Air, Infected Mushroom, Orbital, Goldfrapp, Justice, Aphex Twin, Brainiac, Tom Waits, GO!GO!7188, the Magnetic Fields, Of Montreal, Akira Yamaoka, the Fiery Furnaces, Jethro Tull, Amon Tobin, YMCK, Depeche Mode, Shiina Ringo, David Bowie, VNV Nation, Machines of Loving Grace, Ladytron.

Food: Pho, massamun curry, sushi, cheese and good bread.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Companionship, and solitude. Chaos, and order. Yin and yang.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Everything. Ways to fix the world, or at least the bit of it that's annoying me at the moment. Language. Emergent systems. Cephalopods.

I'm also pretty into gender identity and trans* issues these days. I'm genderqueer, which in my case means I like my genitals how they are but I'm not really interested in playing the whole masculinity game. I like wearing skirts and nail polish.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Well, I made the mistake of giving this profile the same username I use everywhere else, so this whole deal feels like a too-private admission. But really I don't have much to hide. Ask me anything.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
First, a disclaimer: I'm polyamorous and living with my anchor partner in a pretty sweet committed relationship. So I'm totally available for dating as long as you're ok with her getting first dibs on my time.

All right then, let's see... Message me if you think I'm fascinating. Or you think I'll think you're fascinating. Or you want to geek out about games, or music, movies, books, whatever. Or you want to play games, of the board- or video- variety. Or you want to have adventures, explore the city, eat strange foods and drink strange drinks. You want to dance, and sing, and just experience the sheer joy of being alive and having someone to share it with.
