Your Notes
Edit your notesI am confident, fun-loving, and eccentric.
My Self-Summary
Whilst I love being "random" and "ecclectic", I also like to have *some* aspect of stability to my life. I am very close to my family - though they are 4000kms away. I enjoy my social life. I am not a heavy drinker, though I have been known to have a few from time to time.
I LOVE to dance.. particularly around the house like a fool. It's not uncommon for me to be standing out on the front verandah dancing to my iPod and having passers by think I am a little on the crazy side. Alternatively, I am a pretty decent hip hop/rnb/bellydancer so that tends to come in handy when nightclubbing.
I love the outdoors. I am allergic to sunscreen so am often inhibited during summer. Nonetheless, I will eagerly go camping, swimming, kayaking though I have found the past few years that I am most in my element when the sun is scarce.
This is why I now live in Melbourne.
I don't mean to brag, but I'm a pretty great cook. Whilst living in Queensland, I ran the kitchen of a dank little pub. I make a mean roast. I am pretty great at Italian food as well. Not so great with Mexican but I'm learning. I cannot make a curry to save myself, but that's what restaurants and friends are for! Growing up, mine was the kind of family who always ate home cooked meals together around the table.. so I have picked up a few nifty tricks in the kitchen off my ever-so-wonderful mother, grandmother and even grandfather.
I am a little bit obsessive with colour co-ordination in the home.. to the extent that if my shampoo runs out before my conditioner, I will buy both new and change all my soaps and everything at the same time - regardless of the amount I have left in the other bottles. I like my house to be homey. I love pillows and cushions. And incence!
What I’m doing with my life
In other respects, I take a lot of enjoyment out of volunteering my spare time (or at least that which I don't spend socialising) with kids and adults - especially those with special needs. I don't consider myself a hero for doing this, like so many others, rather I think it benefits both myself and the people I am working with at the time. I really enjoy working with the elderly also - volunteering in homes... everyone has something they can teach another person, as long as you're willing to take the time and listen.
Until recently I was working as a Nanny and have been off and on for a few years. It's a job I accidentally fell into then discovered that I really enjoyed. I've worked for 4 families and have thoroughly enjoyed 3 of them.
Which brings me to my next chapter - I love kids... not in a creepy way, but in the way that I am a very maternal person. With any luck I will one day have a couple of my own, though I don't think I was born to mass-produce. I really only want two or three. If in the situation where my partner or I could not have a child, I would happily adopt.. there are so many children in the world who go without because of situations which they cannot help. It's actually rather depressing.
