My Self-Summary
(Forewarning - I got a little carried away and my profile's a little lengthy...Hopefully you won't be bored before you're even half way done reading "The Life and Times of Stacy"...)
My friends would tell you that I'm always up for a good time (who isn't?), whether that's hitting the town for dinner and the theater, wandering (and wondering) around a bookstore for the afternoon, or exploring some new found place. They'd also say I'm one of the most dependable and reliable folks you'll meet, but someone who has a bit of a spontaneous side. (Just to clarify...when I say dependable and reliable, I'll be there in a time of need and you can count on me to get done whatever I say I will. This doesn't necessarily mean I'm punctual....Trust me, I try to be, it just doesn't always work out that way...)
I believe in working hard to get what you want out of life, but also taking plenty of time to play hard. (My dad taught me that one.) I'm close to my family and have a great circle of long-time friends.
Life has taken a few unexpected turns for me over the last few years. I married young and just finished an amicable divorce. It was a difficult decision, but I believe things happen for a reason, and there are bigger and better things ahead for me. I now have the opportunity to talk to you, right? For now, I'm just looking to make some new friends and if something more comes of it, life is even better!
What I’m doing with my life
I'm working hard to advance my career in Human Resources as a Benefits Administrator and have gone back to school to finish my degree in Business Management. I love the field I'm in, but don't know that I'll stay in the corporate world forever. We'll see where the road leads....
I’m really good at
The first things people usually notice about me
I'd like to think it's something more like my sincerity, my genuine concern for those around me, or my sarcastic wit that tends to occasionally creep out at the most inopportune times.
I also tend to wear my heart on my sleeve. If you know me at all, you'll notice the look in my eyes and know exactly what kind of day I'm having. But regardless, I always try to have a smile on my face.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I can't name a favorite movie...I love comedies, even the slapstick stuff, anything that will make me laugh. Anything with Adam Sandler is good. And of course I'm a girl so I enjoy the romantic comedies/chick flicks. I also really enjoy some of the action/drama types - loved the Bourne series and Crash to name a few.
With music, I listen to anything with a good beat. Especially if it's something I can crank up in the car and sing along with (though I can't carry a tune in a bucket and can promise you will never hear me sing, unless I'm slightly intoxicated).
I'm always open to trying new things when it comes to food. Right now, I'm on a Thai kick and love sushi. Mexican and Italian are always great too. But sometimes you can't beat a great burger and fries. (Zip's in Mt. Lookout has the best!)
The six things I could never do without
My senses - Can't imagine never being able to: see the sun's rays breaking through the clouds; smelling the rain of a summer thunderstorm; tasting the spices of pad thai or the smoothness of chocolate; hearing the sounds of birds chirping as spring gets close or a child laughing; or feeling the caress of another.... (a little cheesy and sappy I know...)
Caffeine!! (It's an addiction and I have no plans to go into recovery in the near future.)
Love
Laughter
My cell phone - It's my alarm clock, my calendar, my camera, my connection to the world.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Why do you have to "put your two cents in" but it's only a "penny for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going to?
How is it that we put man on the moon before we figured out it would be a good idea to put wheels on luggage?
Why is "bra" singular and "panties" plural?
If the professor on Gilligan's Island can make a radio out of a coconut, why can't he fix a hole in a boat?
Do the Alphabet Song and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star have the same tune?
Why did you just try singing the two songs above?
If Wile E. Coyote had enough money to buy all that ACME crap, why didn't he just buy dinner?
(Ok, I didn't make these up. They came to me in a forwarded e-mail, but they really got me thinking...)
