I'm on the site to meet some new people to explore the City with and hopefully make some friends.

I'm from Central California but spent the last 8 years in Alabama. NYC has definitely been a shock! I do enjoy The City and I can see why people fall in love with it!

I'm colorblind when it comes to race, I hope you are too!

I'm passionate about living authentically, a feminist, a seeker, politically radical, socially progressive, a high school history teacher by trade (probably will not be going back into that field anytime soon!), I'm a good friend, a bit over-weight and working on it, kinda shy, loves to read, concert-goer, etc...

I work as an labor organizer in the public sector and also a community advocate for people that are trying to fight for unemployment benefits, working on campaigns with low-wage and immigrant workers to help them fight for a living wage, and lastly, helping to restart the Icarus Project again after a hiatus in NYC (whew!)

I love to dibble and dabble in the kitchen and more than likely pretty tasty food comes out... and that's an understatement!

My eyes, my premature grey hair (started growing at 15 and won't dye it!) and my warm disposition.

Favorite Movie: Once, City of God, Princess Mononoke or anything Miyazki, Talk to Her or anything Almodóvar, Harold and Maude, Network, Full Metal Jacket, The Tree of Life or anything Malick, Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy

Favorite Music: Depends on the Day. My favorite band of all time is Queen! Favorite Artist of all time is Erykah Badu Favorite Album of all time is BlackStar - Mos Def and Talib Kweli

Favorite Show: All-time is The Wire. Right now it's Breaking Bad. I have came to the realization that we are living in a golden age of television with the advent of tremendous dramas that come on paid television. Game of Thrones, Boss, Boardwalk Empire, etc are amazing.

Favorite Food:Tex-Mex and I have fell in love with Peruvian since I have moved to NYC. Mother is a Sous and she taught me how to cook. I love good food and I'm pretty adventurous about trying food from around the globe.

Intention vs. Randomness

Why I don't find people (that) interesting. I mean, being well-travelled, having a great job, being a poet or an artist is something, but those are things you are interested in, not who you are.

If this makes sense to you, then you are right up my alley.

Well I'm new to NYC so as of right now I'm not certain... *hint hint*

I, on occasion, I give away everything I own to the homeless (except everything that I could fit in my backpack) and quit pretty good jobs. I think to rid suffering you have to rid desire. At least for me I feel that the want of a "normal life" makes me desire money, which causes greed, selfishness, etc.

It was the second time in my life that I have done this. I have a deep desire to understand what struggle is on a personal level so I can help others.
