I am talkative, impractical, and whimsical.

My Self-Summary

Dear peoples of the internet:
I don't want you. And if I do want you, I definitely SHOULDN'T want you. I'm looking forward to a life of celibacy and pasta.

Sorry, I'm not feeling very OKCupid-ish and really not looking to date or meet anyone right now. Unless you are an incredibly good-looking, incredibly intelligent tech-dork, comics and internet person, humanities/art/liberal arts major, lefty radical political activist-type, who's also social and outgoing and dresses stylishly-but-alternatively and is into the indie/punk music scene. Yes, all those things together. Then I miiiiiight make an exception. If you're local. (I know, I know. Thus celibacy and pasta.)

What this means is, I'm currently NOT INTERESTED in dating pretty much ANYONE.

----------------------

So I'm basically here to amuse myself by looking at profiles and quizzes. Please don't contact me. Really.

I like the film Velvet Goldmine (and I think it's genuinely brilliant) and Oscar Wilde and folk tales/mythology. Also, I'd really like it if you were at least familiar with David Bowie, Marc Bolan and the general early 70's glam era. I love good children's literature (like Peter Pan!), and German Romanticism-inspired stories. Some other things I'm into: Victorian literature, the pre-Raphaelites, gender studies, sexuality studies, feminism, drawing, Neil Gaiman, and literary criticism. I like alternative/punk/post-punk music, as well as clever cheeky pop. I'm also quite fond of folk (pop-psych-folk and other) and really, really cheesy orchestral/melodic metal. Oh, and musical theatre. Come on, you can't deny the appeal of classic Broadway.

Interested in fashion as part of general culture critique (and because design is fascinating).

I also like doing random acts of silliness in public, such as handing out cookies or flowers to strangers. I like costumes and makeup on special occasions.

I really enjoy people who are fun and uninhibited, and like to do things on the spur of the moment, and anyone who can force me out of my comfort zone. I am fast becoming disenchanted with academia.

I am not "more mathematical." I don't know why OkC thinks I am; I hate math and will go to great lengths to avoid it. But yes, I did take AP Calc back in high school, so I can answer OkC's stupid little math questions correctly when I am forced to.

And it seems according to an all-knowing Ok!Cupid test, I'm "very Goth." Just because I like Fairuza Balk and Tim Burton and have too much black clothing? Dammit, I'm a hippie. A goth-glam-mod-hippie.

I am eccentric. I am silly. I am childish. I like it that way.

What I’m doing with my life

That's the million dollar question, isn't it? Give me a million dollars and then I may know.

I’m really good at

I'm pretty damn bad at saying nice things about myself. Let's just say "drawing," since that's a measurable skill. Otherwise, I flatter myself that I give good advice. I'm also pretty tops at sleeping in, procrastinating, and drinking impressive amounts of tea.

The first things people usually notice about me

This is such a stupid question. I haven't seen one person answer this well. Thus I reject it and mock at it. What the hell does it matter what people notice "first" anyway? I mean seriously, I don't care if you're tall or have nice cleavage or weird hair or wear ratty old shoes or have a tattoo. I think a far better question would be, "what do people notice last?"

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I'm not a fan of listing "favorites," plus I think much of it is covered up above. But: Neil Gaiman. Neil Gaiman. Neil Gaiman. (It's a bit of a disturbing obsession right now, sorry. Should wear off by the end of the year.) I like the usual indie and cult movies, intelligent comic books (yeah, yeah, Alan Moore), non-trashy sci-fi and every so often, ironical pulp/pop. I'm vegan if that means anything. And as long as it doesn't directly go against my ethics, I'm up for trying just about anything. What is the point of meeting new people if not exploration?

The six things I could never do without

Oh gee, let me try to be witty: "water, air..."--yeah, 75% of people on here have already proved themselves to be masters of comedy.

I'll just be boring then.

1. a pencil 2. paper 3. an eraser (mistakes are inevitable!) 4. the internet (I'm pretty addicted) 5. socks (important!) 6. blindly idealistic hope.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

The insides of my head, which probably sounds pretty narcissistic. And also other people. I'm very interested in how people work, their motivations, their cultural biases, the programming of their behavior.

Otherwise, I make up stories that never get written down.

On a typical Friday night I am

Maybe I'm home studying or watching a movie, maybe I'm relaxing with a few friends, maybe I'm out at a party or a show or a bar. It depends, doesn't it? "Typical" sounds worrisome to me.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I will NOT have a threesome with you.

Yes, I'm currently bitter about romance, big prize on figuring that out.

You should message me if

Honestly, you shouldn't. Except that I'd love to know if there's a NJ based* burlesque scene, so if you know anything about that, you should message me.

*(As in, NJ specifically. Not NYC. Not Philly. I know about those. And not White Elephant Burlesque Society, because they are a traveling troupe and not really "based" in a particular set location.)
