My self-summary
Loved and loving. Amor et amo ergo sum.

Take a pause. And ask yourself why you're on this site.

There may be no why, but if we are more honest, your answer may range from "I eventually want to find a wife" to "I really would like to get lucky tonight/right now/at some point in immediate future." Yeah, I'd say the range is wide and I'd wager it's not a bell curve. Anyway.

Add to that loaded question why you are specifically on my page - THAT might add "random selection" to the mix of answers.

But even if you landed here with absolutely no reason at all, because you ARE now here, a chain reaction ensues.

The critiquing begins ("Eh, she looks okay - is this filtered? - but I could easily get that Melanie from the other night to come out again, and the whole starting off thing takes effort").

The questions come ("She seems normal but she's single, so what's wrong with her?").

Social heuristics/training kick(s) in ("I can message her but need to wait between messages, and god forbid I ask her out too soon").

Sound familiar?
What I’m doing with my life
So here's me sitting on the other side of the screen and offering you this -

1. I am pretty certain that I will be pleasant and engaging company for conversation, and if not, that I would be curious to probe about whatever you enjoy talking about. Topics of discussion in recent weeks include decoding and encoding, Kevin Ryan, Square, CreditKarma, tax law vs. funds formations, property tax and homestead status, 2% gel vs. 4% spray lidocaine, Gehry, Jay Leno's garage, BIDU, Capital One, Magritte, Autobahn, Goufrais, season tickets, Shostakovich, &c, and on that note, the origin of the ampersand.

2. I have three weeks to live.
A little less drastically: In SF; more specifically, in SoMa. I am finishing up classes at Columbia/Teacher's College on Fourth of July, and will be in CA until the end of the month. I teach 7th grade English at KIPP in Houston and plan to move in the near future to either coast to start my business in education.

How those two points translate for you: zero social pressure. I am curious how the people are here, and am interested in getting to know you at an uncommonly genuine level. If you think meeting people for the sake of good company without ready guarantees of future possibility is a waste of time, I won't try to convince you otherwise*. My claim, however, is that you won't have a bad night, and you can bet me a drink on that :)

*So how has meeting only the people within your parameters been working out for you?
I’m really good at
- falling asleep. I sleep well on planes. I once slept on a cliff in a cemetery and woke up because of the rain on my face.

And massages. I don't mean to brag. But it's kind of true.
The first things people usually notice about me
Tends to depend on what the person is looking for, no? :) Often it's my hair or skin.

Religious fanatics; and nonsensical demands, manipulation, and brainwashing in general

The six things I could never do without
- The 1st Amendment.
- Water, and not just for consumption. To look at, to use, to play in, to hear. And obvious other essentials like O2, food, and other things Maslow got credit for.
- Intellectual stimulation (e.g. good reads, projects, and conversations) and sensory stimulation (e.g. good food, music, massages, perfumes)
- frequent flyer miles.. and my passport.. so a swimsuit
- Appreciation. From within. Accompanied by laughter :) and hope.
- ... Google, especially Map and Gmail.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
too many things, and don't do enough.
Future of America, the world, and humanity in general.
The impact of the present on future.
My students.
Since when people had to fear reading the news.
How to contribute to fixing that.
The starfish story.
Food and my apparently constant need for it.
Lines for that poem and short story on the back burner.
And when I will get to practice yoga under an Umbrella Needle in the Serengeti.
On a typical Friday night I am
In, out of, or on the town.
Grabbing a dinner or drink - and dancing, or reading.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I generally don't find facial hair attractive on people unless their names are Robert Downey, Jr. and Ryan Gosling, in which case, they can do whatever they want.

I'm excited about this "we have a max of 3 weeks of knowing each other" proposition.
