My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I moved to the Oklahoma City area in late May (2013). I came here to start my career after finishing grad school.

I have fairly liberal views and am not religious, but I try to respect everyone's views and beliefs. The exceptions are homophobia, racism, or sexism so if any of these apply to you, move on.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I work as a physical science tech doing research in an ag setting. I am basically a jack of all trades there, which is what I like, I tried hard to groom that image and not be too focused all through undergrad and grad schools. I received my Masters in environmental science from UNC last August, it took a few months to find a job, but I found one I think I will really like.

I spend a lot of my free time training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay thai. In the past I have done several other martial arts, including Thai Chi, and have also done yoga on and off for a decade or so. I also enjoy many outside activities; if you know any places in a reasonable driving distance with some nice hilly, winding mtn bike trails, please let me know.

So, it's probably obvious I like staying active, but I also love to eat, so it balances out most of the time. I also love my hobbies, but I have a lazy side I like to hide whenever possible. I also love live music and am on the hunt for some cool bars and local bands to stalk. But really, a lot of evenings my laziness kicks in and I end up watching whatever scifi/fantasy show/movie strikes my fancy or I just do some gaming (am I too old for that?).
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Martial arts, music appreciation,
sarcasm, sleeping, eating, tech stuff...
Want to be better at: meeting new people, feeling more comfortable in awkward social situations, reading whole books without ridiculously long breaks in the middle...
Bad at: understanding the meaning of life...

Books: anything Phillip K Dick, Margaret Atwood, Octavia Butler or Stephen King; One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, The Electric Koolaid Acid Test, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and most (well written) things Dystopian, Post Apocalyptic , or general Science Fiction. Unfortunately if I find a book a little boring, I probably won't finish it.

Movies: Donnie Darko, Down by Law, Wrist Cutters, Dead Man, Delicatessen, City of Lost Children, Red State, LOTR trilogy, Star Wars (original) trilogy, crazy social documentaries...

Shows: Dexter, Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, Farscape, Firefly, Star Trek TNG, Battlestar Galactica, Dollhouse, Dr Who

Music: (just a few of the important ones) Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Tom Waits, Fiona Apple, Murder by Death, Neutral Milk Hotel, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Wilco, Pink Floyd, Grateful Dead, Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Type O Negative, Opus, the Mountain Goats, the Black Keys, Jack White, Danger Doom, crazy experimental jazz and classical, a little bit of almost everything, really, and I am always looking for music that is new to me...

Food: anything made well with a good balance of flavors, but especially a myriad of different Asian foods and tomatoey-cheesey italian and almost anything with a kick (probably comes from the 4 years I spent in New Mexico for my undergrad)
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Close Friends/Family
Good Music
Good Food
Fresh Air
A sense of purpose
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Will we end up with a post monetary society, or post apocalyptic world? If the latter, what will bring us there. Why are people seem so greedy and heartless sometimes? Why can't I eat whatever, whenever I want and not gain weight? Does my personality section on here scare you? Is it accurate? Should I lie when answering some of the questions? It just doesn't seem right... Currently: If I have not met you, are you really real?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Trying to stay entertained.

I am co-opting this section for an extension of what "I'm looking for"

A person or persons to experience life and create amazing new memories with. Peculiarity and absurdity along with normality and redundancy. Future loves, friends, acquaintances, and enemies. Long conversations, short debates, and indefinite silences. Creation, destruction, and everything in between. Music, art, poetry, and, of course, drama. Life, living, and vitality; both exciting and anxious. All the uncertainties that go with these things.
