I love conversations that range wildly from what’s going on in the
world to playful banter. I have lots of thoughts that begin with “I
wonder why,” where the subject could be anything from big questions
about life to something completely random, like why almost all
restaurants serve food associated with one of only about seven or
eight different countries. For me, there’s almost nothing better
than finding connection with other people through both shared
thoughts and light-hearted humor. One of the many topics I can get
really into chatting about is movies, which is fun because you can
engage them on both the thematic and artistic levels. I like a wide
range of cinema but tend to gravitate especially towards dark,
psychological explorations (like “Enemy” with Jake Gyllenhaal) and
films with highly naturalistic acting and well-developed characters
(like “You Can Count on Me” and Richard Linklater’s
I’m also passionate about art and creativity in general. For me,
almost any kind of writing is an enjoyable creative outlet, and at
one point I explored doing some humorous nonfiction. For instance,
years ago I wrote up a comedic piece spoofing the empty cliches
used by sports announcers on television, and got a kick out of it
when the Washington Post agreed to run it in their Sunday Style
section. While my writing these days is mostly related to work,
finding humor in everyday situations is still very much a part of
I’d like to meet someone with whom I can connect through
conversation, humor, and playful banter. I’m drawn to a woman who
still has some of that childlike wonder about the world and has her
own unique takes and opinions on things. It’d be great if she also
likes to stay active, as that’s something I value in my own life as
