My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I love conversations that range wildly from what’s going on in the world to playful banter. I have lots of thoughts that begin with “I wonder why,” where the subject could be anything from big questions about life to something completely random, like why almost all restaurants serve food associated with one of only about seven or eight different countries. For me, there’s almost nothing better than finding connection with other people through both shared thoughts and light-hearted humor. One of the many topics I can get really into chatting about is movies, which is fun because you can engage them on both the thematic and artistic levels. I like a wide range of cinema but tend to gravitate especially towards dark, psychological explorations (like “Enemy” with Jake Gyllenhaal) and films with highly naturalistic acting and well-developed characters (like “You Can Count on Me” and Richard Linklater’s “Boyhood”).

I’m also passionate about art and creativity in general. For me, almost any kind of writing is an enjoyable creative outlet, and at one point I explored doing some humorous nonfiction. For instance, years ago I wrote up a comedic piece spoofing the empty cliches used by sports announcers on television, and got a kick out of it when the Washington Post agreed to run it in their Sunday Style section. While my writing these days is mostly related to work, finding humor in everyday situations is still very much a part of my personality.

I’d like to meet someone with whom I can connect through conversation, humor, and playful banter. I’m drawn to a woman who still has some of that childlike wonder about the world and has her own unique takes and opinions on things. It’d be great if she also likes to stay active, as that’s something I value in my own life as well.
