Have finally committed (translation: started) a new fantasy series:
Malazan Book of the Fallen, Steven Erikson. Have been burned before
by the Wheel of Time series, so I hope this one doesn't lose my
interest 10k pages in. If you already know that it's good or
terrible let me know... Otherwise, Jo Nesbo and Terry Pratchett
have been recent favorites.
I thoroughly enjoy anime, but am terribly uneducated in what is
good and bad; I learn the hard way more often than not. Studio
Ghibli does a great job, favorites being Spirited Away and
Graveyard of the Fireflies. Layer Cake, 13th Warrior, A.I., Hero,
Heathers, Pan's Labyrinth, and The Dark Crystal are some of my
favorite 'regular' movies; I have yet to meet a Tim Burton movie
that I did not love.
I try very hard to stay hip with Alt Rock and some pop music now,
but I am secretly stuck in the late 90's-early 2000's emo rock era;
Taking Back Sunday is simply epic. Saves the Day, Alkaline Trio,
Local H and their like make up my top notch favorites. That said, I
still listen to everything from about 1975 on including country to
a touch of metal, but I never have gotten into rap barring a couple
Outkast songs. Latest interest has been JRock, but I need exposure
to some new material.
Diet has become a much more important part of my life, trying not
to eat complete garbage now; fortunately forest_kodama
cooks very well,
unfortunately she is now out-of-state and I have to fend for
myself. As far as restaurants go, almost all genres are fair game;
Thai has been the recent favorite.
