I am observes, considers, and states the obvious.

My Self-Summary

I do not answer questions on the tests that I perceive as too private or sexual in nature. This is a public forum where one has no control over who reads the answers.

I am usually confident, take charge, independent, quick-witted, energetic, tolerant of others, and have a need to always be learning. People fascinate me. I am a professional who works on the dark side of life, meaning I have to deal with a lot of sad stories in my work. I love my work and volunteer a lot as well, but lots of things make me laugh. I often find humor in the most obscure places, incidents, and comments, which means something is always amusing me. I am very happy and the older I get, the better my life gets. I have a strong sense of wonder,am interested in just about all subjects, and enjoy keeping up on current events. I have traveled to most states and lived in Europe for two years when I was a young adult.

Until this phase of my life, I have always taken care of others, so I am learning what pleases me. I have my own income and do not need anyone else's. I work less days than most people. I do not smother and do not need someone to take care of me. I have worked hard for where I am in life and what I have, but I am trying to learn to cruise and just enjoy life day by day. I am stronger, have more experience, and have more stamina than most women my age.

I have a 33 year old son and I have a rule that I do not date anyone closer in age to him than me. Men in their twenties hit on me and it makes me feel more uncomfortable than flattered. I also feel great contempt for folks who cheat on the ones who trust them.

I am unique, just like everyone else.

What I’m doing with my life

I am in a career I love, my children are adults, and I am enjoying the fruits of years of labor. My life is good and I give back through volunteering.

I’m really good at

Assessing people, avoiding conflict, making people laugh, making people feel good about themselves, bringing out the best in people. Problem solving and offering solutions. Living my life and letting others live their lives. Accepting people for whom they are. Remembering trivia. I am not a good gardener, but hope springs eternal and every year I am out there trying again. I find humor in almost everything and use humor a lot to defuse tense situations in my work. I am pretty good at explaining things, giving speeches, and inspiring others.

I am an excellent driver.

I cannot and do not dance.

The first things people usually notice about me

I have trouble sitting still. My looks are average. I look like my photo. People tell me I should act my age (just checking to see how carefully you are reading this). I am 5'7, 150 pounds (15 pounds over my ideal weight), but people tell me they think I am thin (yeah, yeah, I live in the mid-west, 15 pounds overweight is thin in the mid-west). I have straight dark blonde hair, if that is the color I have chosen that month. I cannot stand cruelty and would never deliberately hurt anyone.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

My favorite books are biographies and memoirs. I have my own library and often lend my books. I find reading is as necessary to me as food and liquid.
I like live music that isn't rap or polka. My first concert was at age thirteen when I saw Three Dog Night. Since then I have seen Bruce Springsteen, Flletwood Mac, Eric Clapton, BB King, Bob Marley, Jethro Tull, Bill Miller, and a host of others. I like current music by artists like Maroon 5, Cake, Blue October, etc. I quit watching television a couple of years ago and rarely watch movies, either. So I reckon that makes me a social outcast. I like to laugh out loud and it is really great when I laugh until tears run down my face. Mostly I laugh at myself, because frankly, I unintentionally do some pretty silly things.

The six things I could never do without

This must be a test of Maslow's Self Actualization Theory?
Hot water, automobiles and open roads, cash, newspapers, and telephones. I enjoy camping, walking, reading, solitude, company, listening to others' stories, the purring of cats, the enthusiasm of dogs, and music.
I really like the English language and words in general, which may explain why I own so many dictionaries.
I genuinely like people, but I need solitude sometimes as well.

There are things with which I CAN do without. For example, having worked with people who were badly injured in motorcycle wrecks (never their fault, which is important), I can live without motorcycles. While able to handle enormous amounts of abuse, I will not tolerate being abused. I can live without conspicuous consumption. I can live without constant attention. I can live without polyamory. Turns out, I can live without PibbXtra, too. I have lived over half a century withoug dancing, so I can live without dancing.

The sound of laughter is possibly my favorite sound.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Where I left things, yanno, keys and such.
How good my life is and how fortunate I have been.

On a typical Friday night I am

Exhausted and looking forward to the weekend.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I am on a singles site for the first time. I was married over 20 years and never even looked at another man during that time. That makes looking at men as a single woman a new experience. My ex says divorcing me was the biggest mistake of his life, but he and his new wife live far away in a different state. It took me seven years to find out who I am and what I am before I felt comfortable even thinking about dating.
I am very attracted to really smart men, even when their intelligence makes me look not very bright in comparison.

You should message me if

You do not need a woman for you to feel whole, rather you would like one to make your good life better.
You are gentle, kind, have a strong sense of whom you are, have a good mind, enjoy a good laugh, and have a sense of wonder.

Or, you just want to tell me something.
