I am whimsical, giving, and rather dorky.

My Self-Summary

Finally updating this crap. I've finished with community college, and now I'm trying to figure out where I'm headed next. Been through a lot of life changes in the past few months, and now I'm just trying to catch my balance so I can take off running again. University is still my next step, if there's anyway in Hell I can manage. Still not 100% sure what I'll be majoring in: either English or Linguistics. Either way, I'm a huge language lover.

Outside of school my favorite thing to do is hang out and read, followed closely by going out with friends. I also like to go for walks or hikes and just explore. I listen to music more-or-less constantly (I don't think I could live without it, honestly), and I'm trying to teach myself to play the guitar. This has been a slow process, seeing as I haven't had a guitar to practice on in quite a while.

I have a bad habit of staying logged in to things long after I stop paying attention to them. So if you send me a message and I don't respond, it doesn't mean I am ignoring you; I'm probably just not home. I'll get back to you when I can.

What I’m doing with my life

Going to school, working my tail off at a job that doesn't pay nearly enough for the amount of effort I put in. You know, the usual. I'm not really sure what kind of career I'm looking at when I get done with school. That is to say, I do know right now, but it changes every five minutes or so. I do know that it'll be something to do with language, and preferably something that doesn't involve an office. I'd really love to write for a living, so I've been really focusing on that lately, trying to get good enough to make money at it. Still, I'm trying to keep back-up plans in mind.

I’m really good at

I'm a decent writer, and I have set land speed records for A+ essays (my best is 2 and a half pages, single spaced, 40 minutes before class). I'm also fairly athletic, but I'm not really into sports. One thing I would like to get into would be the whole parkour/freerunning bit. I also do Yoga regularly, mostly to keep sane rather than to keep fit. I also have a fair amount of musical talent. I'm trying to learn how to sing without hurting myself or others, and I can whistle like a champion.

The first things people usually notice about me

That I'm kind of a dork, no matter how well I dress. Must be the goofy smile. Once they get closer, probably my eyes, which can be upwards of five different colors at once, depending on the lighting.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

All time favorite books would be Pratchett's Discworld, followed by Keiichi Sig'Sawa's Kino no Tabi series. Really anything by Sig'Sawa is awesome, though.
For movies, Kung Fu Hustle and Amelie are the greatest movies ever made. More generally I like Hong-Kong action flicks, 3 hour plus epics, and the occasional romantic comedy.
When it comes to music, I'll listen to anything, but I'm mostly an Alt/Folk Rock fan. White Stripes, Carbon Leaf, Fishing for Comets, that sort of thing. Also big into classical and opera: Berlioz, Puccini, Bizet.
Finally food: Italian. You could feed me Italian food every day for the rest of my life, and I'd be the happiest man alive. I also like Japanese food, Greek, Moroccan, Mediterranean in general, and American too (Burgers, Fried Chicken, that kind of thing).

The six things I could never do without

一番:The Interwebs. Yeah, I'm a geek. It's also the only way I have to talk to some people.

二番:My books. Screw that one on a desert island bit. I'm takin' 'em all.

三番:My legs. I love to go walking and hiking and climbing.

四番:Tea. Ocha. Chai. Whatever you want to call it. A day without a cuppa is an empty one.

五番:Music. My life cries out for a soundtrack. Possibly by The Cure, but oh well.

六番:New knowledge. The day I stop learning is the day life is no longer worth living.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

The future. The past. All points in between. My latest story idea. Whether or not I should finish my last story before I work on this new idea (The answer's usually no). What I'm having for dinner. Understanding Kant (Still haven't got there). Mostly everything except what's actually going on around me.

On a typical Friday night I am

At work, damn it all. On the rare occasions I'm not, I like to go see a movie or hang out with my friends. Or both. Possibly neither; sometimes I just like to be alone.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

"Chick flicks" and video games are my two guilty pleasures.

You should message me if

You want to have long conversations, go sight-seeing, get lost together once in a while, and maybe even find a little romance (purely optional). Oh, also looking for someone to see movies with. I hate going to a movie alone.
