My self-summary
Stone carver, visionary artist, nurse, and entrepreneur. Also, graphic designer, photographer/photo editor, videographer/video editor, and production manager for a medical technical training school (Fast Response School of Health Care Education). Was a DJ for awhile years ago (occasionally throw down for fun for a friend or a favor).
What I’m doing with my life
The following (an evolving version of my artist statement) pretty much sums me up. I know it's long, and you only really need to read the first paragraph to get the gist:

My greatest joy in this life, my purpose, is to shape stone into something awe inspiring, transformative, conscious, heart-opening, spirit-moving, playful, beautiful, sensual, and universally valuable... When I am asked what my work is about I always respond with, “I create visionary artifacts for the inspiration of the future.” I consider my work to be visionary in that my pieces are portals to evoking a sense of wonder, giddy delight, and deep connection to those elusive and transcendent spheres of the human imagination (and experience) that otherwise would remain in the shadows. Transcending those boundaries within us that have us only rarely explore our world consciously either from fear, suppression, cultural stigma, personal paradigms, or simply from ignorance. They speak to the mythological Gods and Goddesses within us all from our ancient past through to the present moment and into the far reaching future. My work will remain to tell the story of now for another thousand years. They are multidimensional meditative expressions of the collaboration between the human hand & mind and the consciousness manifest in the lines, the history, the geology, and the journey of the stone. They are shamanic tools that open the spirit of the witness to a world which connects virtually all of human history (and pre-history and future) with the single mind of the individual observer and its own personal mythology. They are historical icons that declare my awareness of the spiritual, sensual, intellectual, emotional, and psychological perturbations surfacing in the current human global endeavor. They are artifacts that bridge the origins of humanity’s conscious creative engagement of our internal and external worlds with the contemporary psyche. My deepest intention is that my work impact not just the audience of today or this moment, but that many generations and multiple witnesses to my work feel a sense of wonder and connection, positive self-transformation and hope, delight and inspiration.

Stone has been one of our greatest allies in honing and expanding our consciousness, and in nearly every continent throughout all of history... it is the stone that remains to tell the story of who and what once was. It is this connection to every point in human history that truly ignites my passion for stone carving.

When people encounter my pieces I like the thought that they have a sense of wonder and delight and discovery at having happened upon a lost relic. Recently, my smaller work centers around the Journey Stone work. A Journey Stone is an heirloom, an artifact that can be carried by the receiver anywhere, and is a treasure that speaks to their current mythology, and that can be passed down from generation to generation.

My larger work is a sacred dance between my mind, my heart, my hands, and the stone. The conscious understanding that the stone I am working with has traveled millions of years to reach my hands is ever present in my work. The connection to hundreds of thousands of years of human’s historical collaboration with stone is also present. Working in stone connects me to nearly all of our history as a World including the Earth itself. To me, my work bridges the story of Us (the living the breathing and the solid and the still) with all of time. I truly desire that my pieces survive thousands of years into the future (continuing to bridge the gaps between this and that, time and space, living and not living, active and still) and continue to inspire viewers and witnesses to my work. I attempt to create pieces that are universal in appeal and can translate as artifacts that transcend history or have survived the scrutiny of time and cultures. I endeavor to reproduce the archaic origins of our relationship to stone as well as reveal more of what I see and feel to be the heart of the stone. I prefer to work with hand tools only, and this takes time. It can take 3 months (approximately 300 hours) to complete a work that is medium-sized (3 1/2 feet x 1 1/2 feet x 2 feet).
