Four things I’m looking for in someone else (in no particular order)
1) Attraction needs to be there- I’ve been attracted to several types…truly in the eye of the beholder and its more than physical.
2) Similar value system- I’m very honest and up front with things and expect the people in my life to be the same.
3) Loves the outdoors- More below
4) Has their shit together for the most part- I think you know if you do or not.
Why a love for the outdoors? Because I don’t really have a church I attend, but I think outdoor adventures and travels can be truly spiritual. Ever feel the grandeur of the universe while looking up at the Milky Way on a clear night in Munising? How about the connection felt when walking through a forest in the Rocky Mountains? The senses come alive when I’m outside; touching, seeing, smelling, hearing, and tasting even. So yeah, it’s important to me. It could be as simple as a bike ride on a local MTB trail all the way to a multi-day backpacking adventure on Isle Royale. I feel alive outdoors and I’d like to find a partner that can completely relate to that…or at the very least want to try to see if they can relate to it. I think most people can if they’re willing to experience it.
Some other non-outdoor interests include city exploring, any type of game (love nerdy strategy board games), backyard BBQs, or any other type of adventure I haven’t been able to think of yet. I’m willing to give just about anything a go.
I like to get to know people before I consider dating them. So usually the first few meetings to me are just social meet ups. No pressure and just have a good/fun time.
For a more expanded edition, feel free to send a note.
I am a really good planner. I'm usually the social trip planner with my friends and have put together some awesome trips...see? Humility!
Movies (a random sampling)
Comedy- Caddy Shack, Animal House, Anchorman, Sideways
Drama- The Prestige, Interstellar, Watchmen
Action- Any mindless action movie could do if the mood strikes me.
The take-away is that I'm sure we would find something for a relaxing evening with some wine.
Shows- Very little TV watching since I don't own cable. I'll flip on Netflix once in a great while. I do like the newer Cosmos. Documentaries are cool too if I'm into the topic. Daredevil and Jessica Jones were very good. See the take-away from the movies section.
Music- Jazz, Rock, Heavy Metal, Alternative, Rap, Hip Hop, ect. I think I can safely say I enjoy something from every genre.
Podcasts- The Stranger Podcast (Dan Savage) has been very good.
Food-yes, I cook quite often and haven't found much that I won't eat...except peas and green beans by themselves. bleh. I consider myself a foodie.
Booze- Love craft beer and great wines. A good scotch every now and then is a great treat.
Bottom line is I’m usually up to something, are you in?
